By Corporate Communications Staff
Thousands of first responders are fighting massive wildfires in California, and Delta people can give to impacted colleagues through the Care Fund, or to the evacuees supported in emergency shelters by the American Red Cross.
Giving to the Care Fund
Over 3,800 active employees currently live in areas affected by the wildfires. Employees are encouraged to support the Delta Care Fund through a one-time donation or ongoing payroll deduction.
This year, the Care Fund has granted almost $140,000 support the Delta family in natural disasters, including Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael. The Care Fund has also granted over $3 million so far in 2018 to Delta people who are undergoing a crisis.
Employees in need of aid can contact their supervisor, email DeltaCareFund@delta.com or call 404-677-7673.
Giving to the American Red Cross
As people are affected by crises around the world, donations to the American Red Cross help to ensure that families and individuals most in need are helped quickly. You can join the effort helping impacted communities through a financial gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief through Delta's employee microsite. These donations will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and mobilization of volunteers.
The American Red Cross is Delta's longest-standing nonprofit partner and when disaster strikes, Delta's support helps provide food, shelter and relief to those in need. Delta is one of the Red Cross's Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) participant at the $1 million level, allowing the organization to be strategic in disaster response as it responds to the devastating wildfires.
Blood is always needed in the wake of disaster. In light of recent devastation, Delta is hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, November 20, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Delta Flight Museum.  This blood drive has been added to help benefit families and communities affected by the wildfires. To sign up for an upcoming Delta-sponsored blood drive, visit this link.
Through the partnership with the American Red Cross, Delta, its employees and customers have helped people in need for more than 75 years. In addition to ADGP funding, employees participate in corporate blood drives throughout the year, making Delta the largest corporate sponsor of American Red Cross blood drives with 11,085 pints in 2018 fiscal year.
