A personal note from Wendy

Bob Doyle is trying to arrange this reunion and I am his assistant.

As we all know, hotels/events are not cheap today. With that said, the hotel manager has worked with us to offer a nice event while trying to keep the price down. This hotel is lovely and has been used previously for Delta Christmas parties.

To confirm this event with the hotel we need to know ASAP how many people plan to attend; therefore, please let me know if you plan to attend by email at onedayx2@yahoo.com or call (859) 653-0107.

Make your $45 check payable to "Wendy Murphy" and mail it to me at 3660 Oxford Court, Erlanger, KY 41018-2671.

So far, the hotel has set aside 10 rooms at a discounted rate plus there will also be a small discount for the cash bar. Please note, when you make your hotel reservation don't forget to tell them you are attending the Delta reunion to get the discount.

To add a little fun, please bring a COPY of an old Delta picture with your name and employment date written on the front of it and I will put them on some whiteboards.

As I get older, I know I wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity to visit with the many people I worked with over the years and who still mean a lot to me. I have already spoken with a few people about this event, and they are very excited.

Delta Golden Wings Reunion at Dayton, Ohio

DGW, Welcome from Al Dvoracek. We have put together a very enjoyable reunion for anyone who has ever flown an airplane. The National Museum of the US Air Force is a very enjoyable self-guided leisurely tour and there is also plenty of information at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Center pertaining to the Wright Brothers.

For any of you who have never attended a DGW reunion, you willl find it to be a very pleasant event. It is definitely a relaxed and informative gathering with people whom you may or may not have flown with in your Delta career. There is a hospitality room available with drinks and snacks throughout the reunion where most everyone gathers when back at the hotel.

I found from personal experience that once you attend a reunion you are very likely to attend many more. We, the board, look forward to meeting some new attendees and hope that you consider joining us in Dayton. I look forward to seeing you there!

We have finalized the schedule for the annual reunion this year. Our anchor hotel will be Holiday Inn in Dayton Fairborn.

MONDAY OCT 7th :

Arrival and check in. The hotel does not provide airport transportation. They recommend Uber, Lyft or a taxi. Hotel parking is free.

During check in, the hospitality room will be open with snacks and drinks available.

NMUSAF Tour (self-paced) (open 0900-1700), tickets to at least one movie included in reunion cost. Lunch at the museum is on your own utilizing food trucks as the museum restaurants are closed. Hospitality room open after tour, dinner on your own

WEDNESDAY OCT 9th

Breakfast at hotel.
9:00 AM Board bus for tours
The Aviation Trail • Depart Holiday Inn in Fairborn at 9:00 AM • 9:15-10:15 AM: Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center. We will watch a 30-minute movie (On Great White Wings) as a group when we arrive. This film provides a great overview of the life of the Wright Brothers. There is a small museum and bookstore, and an outdoor monument so guests will have 20-25 minutes to stroll. • 10:30-1:30 PM: Carillon Park is a beautiful outdoor park-like museum with dozens of exhibits that highlight the story of Dayton.

Hospitality room open. Dinner on your own

When we arrive, we will all “meet” five men that built Dayton and played an important role in our history. And then guests can stroll the rest of the park on their own. Everyone needs to see the Wright B Flyer III – the original plane is on exhibit. A new train ride through the park was just opened in the spring of 2023 ($5 per person). Guests can have lunch on their own at either Culp’s Café or the Carillon Brewery.
•1:45 – 2:15 PM: A tour of Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum and a visit to the Wright Family gravesite. Also highlights of other famous people buried at Woodland.
• 2:40-3:00 PM: Huffman Prairie. This is where it all happened. Let’s talk about Mr. Huffman! Guests can get off the bus for a few minutes to walk around or can see the sights from the bus window. •
3:15 PM: Return to the hotel
