Hangar Flying - HL 174 (3)

Subject: Fwd: Not your old-fashioned Aircraft Carrier Landing!

What about at night on a pitching and rolling deck?

To all my Delta Navy Pilot friends - do you think YOU could have done such complex and challenging takeoffs and landings?

This video was made just 6 weeks ago in the Atlantic, just off Newport News ( Hampton Roads), Virginia .

These are the latest sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp.

They were very successful, with 74 Verticle Landings's & Standard Take Offs in a 3 week period.

The media and the program critics had predicted that we would burn holes in the deck and wash sailors overboard.

Neither of which happened. You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates.

That was an intentional part of the sea trials.

No catapult... No hook... Its a new world out there!

The shape and scope of warfare worldwide just changed.

John Burkart sent me this. It's about 15 minutes. Travis Foster

Great shots!

This may have been seen by some, but it's interesting film about naval aviation and the carrier, probably filmed in 1970s. It was produced by Grumman. Since they probably used various videos from different years, I think I caught a glimpse of an F8, but it may have been an A7.

Where do we get such men??

Airplanes really do use Ford Starters (or how to crop dust in Brazil)
