Delta hiring is a runaway train.  Cockpit qualifications will suffer if good people are not recommended.

 190 people evacuated from Delta flight after tires catch fire, burst while landing

Tires on a Delta Boeing 757 caught fire and burst into flames while landing Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the evacuation of 190 passengers on to an Atlanta airport tarmac, The Federal Aviation Administration reported.

At approximately 6 p.m., while landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Delta Flight 1437 experienced a burst in its left main gear tires, according to the FAA.

A photo and video were sent to 11Alive by a passenger on the Delta Boeing 757, showing individuals utilizing the emergency slide of the aircraft for evacuation purposes.

DALLAS — The federal government is fining American Airlines $4.1 million for dozens of instances in which passengers were kept on board planes without a chance to exit during long ground delays.

The U.S. Department of Transportation said Monday it is the largest such fine against an airline since rules covering long ground delays took effect about a decade ago.

American owes half the fine in the next 30 days, while the department gave the airline credit for the other half, just over $2 million, for compensation it paid to delayed passengers, according to a consent order that settled the case.
