Dear PCN (of over 2600 subscribers),
Wow Astro’s digging out of a hole?
Well, well, well. Here I
thought the Astros would roll, instead they have sort of dug a hole. I like
baseball and both teams are fun to watch.
The Nats have surprised by jumping out to this lead. By way of a little history, my ’68 Tigers
went down 3-1 to the formidable Cards before rallying to win the series. So for the Astro’s it is possible, with their
win last night they have life, but it better keep going otherwise the Nats are
on their way to their 1st ever title. Love this time of year!!!
NCAA Football still great to watch:
OSU is the best team in the Big Ten (to my Sparty chagrin) and
tomorrow they face off with the 2nd best team, Wisconsin. Of course Clemson and Alabama are great again
this year, but some other teams have real potential. Sat should be a fun day of football between those
pesky raking leaf jobs.
MI Bow Hunt this month:
In a few days I will head to host a bow hunt on the family farm
in MI about 30 miles south of old Wurtsmith AB.
This is a very nice place to be in the Fall woods and I am looking
forward to it in so many ways. Sometimes
the solitude of the morning woods or the low rays of the setting sun have a
wonderful way of resetting one’s life and perspective. Nature and the out of doors have always been
good medicine for me so I am hoping for a safe, inspiring and productive time
up north. Report to follow.

Hello Mark,
I enjoy reading your remarks and especially this month
because I just returned from visiting Michigan for the first time in 15
years. My wife had never been there so we flew into DTW, drove to
Saugatuck (where my grandfather farmed years ago), on to Traverse City, where
my late father and family settled after immigrating from the old country and to
visit with his last remaining sibling who lives on his cherry farm near Honor
and then, the icing on the cake, a couple of days on Mackinac
Island. What a wonderful trip, it brought back fond memories of my
childhood growing up in Waterford Township, in fact we had such a good time
that we shall abuse our pass privileges (thank you, Delta Air Lines) next
October and take close friends with us.
Keep up the good work, my man.
Ron

Subject: Bow & Arrow
Mentioning your joy with
the bow & arrow reminded me of a Delta pilot that was really into it. In
fact as I recall he had a store that specialized in the sport & I believe
it was in north Atlanta. Just thought you might find it of interest.
Can’t remember his name ; would be in his 90’s.
Best Regards, Sam

PCN subscribers:
I certainly do not need to tell you that since we formed the PCN
that we have lost a lot of good people of whom many were subscribers. 1554, is the number of those whose death
notice has been archived on the PCN Flight West page, as of this post. That is a lot of very very fine people that
we have lost. Our goal is to notify our
group and provide a lasting tribute in honor of their life at PCN Flight
West.
Well, with that said, some of you may wonder how our level of
subscriptions has been impacted. In a
very real sense the numbers of subscribers, 2670, has remained virtually the
same as it was shortly after the merge forming the PCN of my old Retired Slug
Network and David Robert’s list back in 2009.

New PCN subscriber Sign Up:
As you most of you know our PCN is a private subscribed to
online community. We maintain a list of
that virtually eliminates spammers or other online undesirables from joining
with a simple sign up procedure, so the applicant can be screened. I am very happy with how this has worked as
we can be assured that everyone on the 2670 member list is legit.
If you know of a pilot who wishes to join our community and
receive our notices they can easily and
painlessly become a subscriber for FREE by simply filling out the SIGN UP form. If a current member vouches for a friend and simply sends in their former Delta
position and email, I have always considered this an appropriate vetting and
added them directly to the list.
Thanks for helping the PCN remain the largest retired Delta
pilot online community and for helping keep our mailing list made up of all
legit subscribers.
