Helpful miscellaneous articles
regarding our retirement plan and planning.
Like you, I review my retirement nestegg and plan from time to
time. Recently, I went though some
continued education for some credentials I maintain and it occurred to me that
we all could use a review about these issues.
So with your help, we will share and post articles and info that may be
helpful and of interest to many of you in this section.
RE: AMEX Delta Gold Skymiles Credit Card
The Skymile program auto generated an email
about card benefit changes that has caused some confusion. Most of it surrounding the waived annual fee
for employees and retirees. As my flash
email recently reported the waived fee for us retirees is still in force. As to the other benefit changes and how many
of them apply to our program, I am gonna say that my assumption is all of them
apply to us as well. If that proves
true, the Skyclub would not be accessible for Gold card holders such as
us. That is a bummer. But overall the
card still offers some rather nice benfits and if you can have it with no
annual fee……why
not.
If you are interested in reading the details
for yourself or even applying for this card than here is the email I sent out
with instructions on how to find it on the DeltaNet:
Dear PCN,
I have been receiving emails with members who either wish to
apply for this card or to read for themselves the details about this card offer
for Delta employees AND RETIREES!!!! I published a separate notice about
this and will copy it again in this High Life for your convenience. If you try to find the link inside the
DeltaNet, you would have to live another lifetime before you could locate
it. Yes, it is that hidden. But for you who wish to look it up and apply or learn
more here, is the path:
Log into the retiree DeltNet then carefully follow this
path:
HR>Benefits> X Sweet Deals > (now you will find yourself on an ad page for
Google Nest. Don’t click the Redeem button but rather click the link directly
below it to: “Go To Home Page”> now you are on the Delta Perks page
find and click on: Delta Partner
Programs > (ahh finally) AMEX Delta Gold Skymiles Card
Once there you can read the details and learn, as I reported,
that the annual fee is waived for RETIREEs. AND YOU CAN
APPLY ONLINE FROM HERE WITH THE FEE WAIVER.
Hope this helps and answers some of your questions,

Mark, I followed your
instructions on DalNet and then called AMEX. They upgraded my card to the
employee card with no annual fee without any questions or proof that I had been
an employee! Very simple and quick. Thanks for pointing out this perk. Fred

Re:
PCN - AMEX Gold card --- follow up I
I have a Gold Delta Sky Miles
American Express credit card that I have paid $99.00 for three years. I
called the 800 number on card, got Delta Sky Miles recording, selected
"charges" talked to real person about removing the charge, was
transferred to American Express in FLL, told her I was Delta employee and she
removed the 2018 $99.00 and credited it to my account. Promising her a
home grown avocado to remove the other two years $99.00 didn't work.
Entire process once got American Express took five minutes. Thanks Mark
and PCN for this and all other info.

Hi Mark!
One VERY
disappointing aspect of the new "changes" - NONE of which appear to
be positive or beneficial for ANY Gold Card holders - is that one can
(apparently) no longer use the Gold Card plus $29.00 to access
the Delta lounge. This is a benefit which i have used on occasion, and is/was
particularly beneficial to take some of the pain out of Non-Rev travel. It has
been nice to have a comfortable place to go for a couple hours after being left
at the gate.
Any
chance THAT new provision would not apply to Active or Retired Delta
employees/cardholders?
Thanks again for the
work!
Regards,
Jim

Hopefully Delta employees and retirees will also retain the Sky
Club $29 day pass.

I had one and lost the card with $395 credit on it. Now 3 years
later I can't recover my $395. DeltaCredit Union says they are just the
intermediary and that I have to recover it from AMEX. AMEX doesn't have records
back past 10 months and they don't show the credit even though it has been on
my DCCU account for about 3 years. Good luck if you have a problem because
Delta won't help you.
