Evening September 10, 2001
Parents got their kids ready for bed. Some read them a story, hugged, kissed them, turned out the lights. For some, it would be the last time.
Kids snuggled into bed and drifted off to sleep, safe and secure. For some it would be the last time.
Flight crews got ready for the next day. Uniform. Manuals. Jepps. A good night's sleep to be ready for the next day. For 32 dedicated crew, it would be the last time.
NYC Fire and police were always ready fo...r the next call. It would be the last call for 411.
The next day the world as we knew it changed.
September 11, 2001. We watched in horror....and we watched Syrians dance with joy in the street. Now, those we elected to keep us safe want to bring them here and no one wants to discuss the vetting process. I haven't forgotten. Have you?

Subject: What is the real "industry standard"
To
all the active Airline comrades out there:
I'm
trying to determine what the "industry standard" is for the verbiage
and labeling of your Quick Reaction Cards (QRC), the initial references you use
for Non-normal/Emergency events. There seems to be a bit of debate as to
how switches, levers, buttons are referred to on these cards. The trend
to match the way switches are labeled in the cockpit to a QRC (to the letter)
has been around for a while but what I'm trying to determine is how far that
has been taken. Since I haven't been in an airline cockpit is 10
years I would appreciate it if you could enlighten me as to what your QRC looks
like. Specifically:
Does
your QRC ever use nouns like switch, lever, button, etc. when referring to a
particular item?
Examples:
1.
APU FIRE PUSH . . . . .
Press
or
APU FIRE PUSH BUTTON . . . . . Press
2.
BUS TIE OPEN/CLOSED . . . . . CLOSED
or
BUS TIE OPEN/CLOSED SWITCH . . . . . CLOSED
Any
feedback on this would be much appreciated.
Better
yet, I would appreciate for a copy/picture of your current QRC. That is
of course if your life, limbs, or career will not be in jeopardy for sharing
the information. I'll keep ALL sources in confidence.

Strong performance across the business produced a
record-setting June quarter. The result was a pre-tax profit of $1.6 billion.
Notably, we have accrued $547 million in profit sharing so far this year - $108
more than we had at this time last year.

Delta and China Eastern Airlines finalized the expansion of
its partnership by holding a signing ceremony for its expanded partnership
Tuesday in Shanghai. The agreement includes a $450 million investment by Delta
to acquire a 3.55 percent stake in China Eastern.
It is hard to explain that!!!!!
