Delta Flight Museum launches commemorative brick campaign
December 13, 2013
The
Delta Flight Museum is premiering a commemorative brick campaign as a
fundraising effort for the new facility that will open next summer. Funds generated by the brick sale will support exhibits and other features at the new museum that will chronicle Delta’s history from its origins as a crop-dusting venture in the Louisiana bayou to today and into the future of commercial aviation.
A variety of sizes of red clay bricks are for sale starting at $120 each. The pavers will ornament the planned courtyard immediately in front of the museum entrance in front of Historic Hangars 1 and 2.
Employees and others may customize an inscription on their brick from a link on the museum’s website. http://www.deltamuseum.org https://bricks.deltamuseum.org
“These bricks are a visible and personal way employees and retirees can support the museum or honor a retiree, co-worker or family member,” said Fred Cannon–director, Delta Flight Museum. “And bricks would make a great holiday gift for employees and retirees.”
As a donation to the museum, employees can receive a tax deduction for their brick this year if purchased before Dec. 31, 2013.
The 4-by-8 engraved brick will accommodate up to three lines of customized text, and the website will model the actual look of the finished brick. An 8-by-8 version will fit either four lines of text or three lines of text with a choice of Delta logos or personalized images.
When completed next summer, the Delta Flight Museum will be housed in Hangars 1 and 2, originally built in the 1940s for Delta’s aircraft maintenance and located today on Delta’s Atlanta headquarters campus.
The two hangars are undergoing an extensive renovation to return their exteriors to their 1940s appearance while updating the interiors as a state-of-the-art museum that will be open to the public.
