Hangar Flying - HL 186 (3)

Date: 10/19/2013 7:12:13 AM

Subject: Concorde Flight from New York to London at Mach 2 took 3:15 hrs

If you never flew on the Concorde (I didn't), this will give you some idea

of what it was like. The pilot's comments are interesting as to the noise

the Concorde made, supersonic only over the Atlantic. What a machine, must

have been a hoot to fly.

Subject: Fwd: FW: Fwd: Russian aviation

If I remember correctly, in the KC-135 tanker, the limit was .5 inch of standing water on the runway!

Don't try this at the Aviation Blvd strip

The lesson here is “Don’t Fly In Russia”.

This takeoff added a 1000 of pounds of mud to the gross weight and did tens of thousands of rubles
worth of damage to engines, landing gear, props and structure in addition to removing all the antennas.

It’s probably SOP in Russia. This video shows the combination of good vodka and bad judgment, sometimes making an airline profitable; sometimes, NOT. This video only confirms horror stories about Russian airline operation.

This muddy mess of a takeoff occurred in Siberia. The Russians have airline pilots with balls made of iron and planes made of steel; but runways made of mud, great combo! Watch the rudder. It tells the story.

Comments - Sent to me by a friend. Think maybe John Blyth became a commercial pilot from the way he describes his first night landing in LGA, although is doesn't say so in the film. pretty emotional in spots.
