Mark,
A heads up to all on the PCN regarding DPMP Rx coverage.
In the mail on June 6th
I received a letter from UHC telling me one of my wife's prescriptions will no
longer be covered as of JULY FIRST?! (It was dated May 2013; no specific date
for
the letter or postmark
on the bulk mail by which it was sent.)
I called and "they" (UHC) say the Prescription coverage has just changed.
I called and "they" (UHC) say the Prescription coverage has just changed.
I informed them that
this was less than a 30 day notice and my policy isn’t up for renewal until
next year.
I then inform them that over the counter retail for this one prescription is $205 PER MONTH! I already have a $45/mo. Copay!
Isn’t this a breach of my annual health insurance contract?
Also....does this mean my health insurance is worthless as you can seemingly change anything at any time and I still owe all remaining premiums for the year?(evidently so)
Also....and most importantly....the generic substitute they WILL cover is reported to be INEFFECTIVE for over 50% of the patients who switch!! And
the side affects of switching can be life threatening!
I'm told I'm the sixth caller and I can go right ahead a send in a
written appeal.
I doubt if they can settle an appeal before July 1...when my
wife’s monthly Rx will have to be purchased without insurance at the over the
counter retail rate of $205!!
I don’t know if this is just for retired Pilots or whether it
affects various coverage for all employees and retirees.
So HEADS UP, if you get a similar letter PLEASE call UHC and write
Delta a letter.
Oh, the reason stated in the letter for the change? To help
Corporate profitability?!
I thought we did that when we gave up our retirement system.
