HCTC Benefit
Expiration Reminder Dec 31, 2013
My company insurance open enrollment is in May. I cannot wait until the end of Dec to change
over because of the rules. Those who
receive the HCTC benefit please realize unless there is a change of heart in
the congress, we will see the HCTC subsidy helping to pay our insurance
premiums go away. Your insurance will
not automatically cancel but you will be shocked at the 100% insurance premium
bill that you will have to pay.
I know that the PCN subscribers do not read every section
nor every issue. So please inform your
circle because if any are HCTC recipients this is important news. PLEASE TELL YOUR BUDS.

Capt May, as you may recall from the
last HL, has been requested by Delta to repay his overpayment from the trust. He
seeks help from anyone who has used some legal help. I already passed along to Charlie that the
union will be hard pressed to help in this area.

Mark, thank you for sending me the two link that pertained
to the "over pay" problem many of us are having right
now. One question I have that you may be able to answer is,
Do we have an retired pilots union representive or would we be better off
contacting the curent pilots union rep? Thanks again for your time and
information. Charlie May chuckfmay@gmail.com
Charlie, i will send you a couple of links on our High Life Blog that speaks to this very issue:

Mark and Pete:
Greetings from a small village overseas. I
too am retired military (age 71) and got the letter about United Healthcare
taking over the administration of the western region of TriCare. If
I understood this correctly, this is only an administrative change, not a
change in actual benefits. United Healthcare is NEITHER the provider
NOR the insurer. Pete's wife should simply go to whichever doctor
she chooses as before. It sounds to me like the person in the doctor's office
misunderstood and took it to mean that she was covered by United Healthcare,
which is not her situation.
I notice that Pete writes that he is with TriCare
Standard. Unless there is some special reason for this, he should
know that TriCare Standard is is not as good a program as TriCare-for-Life
which nearly all military retirees transition to --in my case-- at age 60 along
with their dependents. I strongly recommend that he look into
TriCare-for-Life.
Hope this reduces the angst.

Hi
Pete:
Just
read your post in High Life. Tricare is still the same…just a different
administrative company. This has nothing to do with UHC providing the
benefits. My wife is on Tricare Standard and I am on Tricare for Life
(age 70 and on Medicare as primary).
Please
email or call me and I can set you straight.
FYI
I am a retired Navy O-6 and retired from Delta July, 2000 off 767 Domestic/ATL.
