Back in the High Life Again -Theme Song:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adw772km7PQ&ob=av2e

Lyrics:

Back in the High Life Again

Steve Winwood

It used to seem to me that my life ran off too fast
And I had to take it slowly
Just to make the good parts last
But when you're born to run, it's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me
Back in the bright part of town

I'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
I'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched me once
Will smile and take me in

And I'll drink and dance with one hand free
Let the world back into me
I know I'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

Girl, you used to be the best
To make life be life to me
And I hope that you're still out there
And you're like you used to be
We'll have ourselves a time
And we'll dance the mornin' sun
And we'll let the good times come in
And we won't stop 'til we're done

We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched us once
Will smile and take us in

And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
Though we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

High life
High life
In the high life again

We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched us once
Will smile and take us in

And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
Though we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

High life
(Back in the high life)

Oh, we'll be back...

Dear PCN (of over 2600 subscribers),

Busy August –

Last weekend we traveled to MI for a wedding and this summer has brought one thing into our life after another.  The 352nd High Life will come out in August but just barely as my gkids and honey do lists have been keeping me hopping.  Maybe this Fall will provide a little relief and life will slow down a bit.  I am looking forward to that.  By the way, the wedding was nice and at probably one of the most scenic places in Detroit on the River.  And as always you learn a little something new about traditions that these younger couples are creating.  We learned there was a “honeymoon fund” to donate to.  Man, Barb and I camped in a tent in the mountains.  I wish we had thought about a “honeymoon fund!”   Also learned about another new thing, shared by some of the couples there with young families.  The “Push Gift”.  Well, what in the world is a “Push Gift, I asked?   You haven’t heard of the Push Gift? I’m sorry but No, I replied.   It’s a gift given to the mom after she “pushes” the baby out.     Geeeeezzzz.   I am going to return to my time warp now.

Solemn goodbye to two of my most admired colleagues --

Capt Rick Nickel age 70 and Capt and former ORD Chief Pilot Dick Shutack 84 have both Flown West.  I started the Flight West page to memorialize and archive our colleagues who have taken that last flight. I feel apologeting and am sorry to admit this, but some passings impact me a little more than others. With these two it certainly is like that.  Both men were really great to work with and helped make flying out of ORD and CVG just a little better than it would have been otherwise.   There are crewmembers that we all have worked with that we cannot remember their names nor any remarkable memory made on any of our flights together.  Now that is natural, as the nature of the crew changes and scheduling upheavals create a lot of that. But with both of these guys, my memory recalls one story after another and my memory bank is full.    Some stories are funny, some are melancholy but all create great impressions and point to the character of these guys.

 Capt Shutack’s: https://pcnflightwest.blogspot.com/2023/08/dl-capt-richard-dick-shutack.html

We are saddened by this news but as always, we wish all of God’s Peace and Comfort for the family members and friends and ask God to bless their final Flight West landings for Captain Shutack and Captain Nickel.   I hope it’s a ‘greaser.’

D & S Plan (Trust) Funding

In Jun many of us received a brief summation of the D & S Plan (Trust) which indicated a ground shift of how Delta was going to fund the Trust moving forward on a pay as you go basis.  This prompted me to quickly call and ask the ESC to ask for the complete D & S Trust report (which we have a  right to) I got told they don’t handle that.  The ESC slid me off to the Delta Pilot Assist (877-325-2359) which I called for my complete report.  4 weeks later I received a mailing from Delta.  But it was an estimated Summary of Benefits for my survivor when I die.  While this page is is sort of helpful to have in the file with a few notes on it, IT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR.  I’ll try again to get the full report but won’t hold my breath.

If any of you members have got a full report of the D & S Plan (Trust) , maybe you could scan and send me a PDF?  I would be most grateful.

NEW handy 2 page LINK LIST of important documents for the Survivor.

New PCN subscriber Sign Up:

As you most of you know our PCN is a private subscribed to online community.  We maintain a list of that virtually eliminates spammers or other online undesirables from joining with a simple sign up procedure, so the applicant can be screened.  I am very happy with how this has worked as we can be assured that everyone on the 2670 member list is legit.

If you know of a pilot who wishes to join our community and receive our notices they can easily and painlessly become a subscriber for FREE by simply filling out the SIGN UP form.  If a current member vouches for a friend and simply sends in their former Delta position and email, I have always considered this an appropriate vetting and added them directly to the list.

Thanks for helping the PCN remain the largest retired Delta pilot online community and for helping keep our mailing list made up of all legit subscribers.
