Subject: Survivor benefits
Mark;
Apologies, but
couldn't find a link to the "pilot Communications Network- PCN" on my
search engine. Had a phone call from a fellow DAL pilot, concerning Survivor
Benefits. He was under the impression That once a pilot passes away, being
covered by the PBGC, after bankruptcy, his spouse is entitled to ZERO
BENEFITS. I, on the other hand, thought we would revert to the "pre-
bankruptcy" rules, where in the surviving spouse would be eligible for 50%
of the deceased pilots retirement pay. At least my spouse has always said I'm
[retired pilot] worth MORE, in the horizontal position, than the vertical one.
If you know of a
"PCN", or "DeltaNet" link that explains this, I would be
grateful if you sent it to me, so I can forward it to him. Thanks for your
time- Joel Payne B-767A [ret.].
Joel,
You are
correct on this one, $0 from the PBGC as
it is a single life annuity and stops after the death of the recipient, but to
the survivor, it is about 35% of FAE
paid from the D&S trust. Here is
the link to share with him and tell him and his wife to join the PCN and for $0
cost our volunteer effort will keep him informed.

Under this insurance section, I am, in this issue re-printing a few helps for pilot survivors and families since we are unfortunately losing so many of our pilot colleagues. Here at the PCN we have a website with s DL Survivor Page which links to many many helpful sites and info.
1. PCN Delta Suvivor Page of INFO and Links: http://pcn.homestead.com/DLSurv.html
2. Delta produced Death Checklist for Survivors:
3. ALPA (DAL MEC) produced ‘worksheet’ that can be filled
out and stored for Survivors and Families.
This worksheet is located with the ALPA Ret & Insur Handbook in the
last section: http://pcn.homestead.com/files/Misc_Files/2022_ALPA_Ret-Insur-handbook.pdf
