Back in the High Life Again -Theme Song:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adw772km7PQ&ob=av2e

Lyrics:

Back in the High Life Again

Steve Winwood

It used to seem to me that my life ran off too fast
And I had to take it slowly
Just to make the good parts last
But when you're born to run, it's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me
Back in the bright part of town

I'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
I'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched me once
Will smile and take me in

And I'll drink and dance with one hand free
Let the world back into me
I know I'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

Girl, you used to be the best
To make life be life to me
And I hope that you're still out there
And you're like you used to be
We'll have ourselves a time
And we'll dance the mornin' sun
And we'll let the good times come in
And we won't stop 'til we're done

We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched us once
Will smile and take us in

And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
Though we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

High life
High life
In the high life again

We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time
Will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All thee eyes that watched us once
Will smile and take us in

And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
Though we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

High life
(Back in the high life)

Oh, we'll be back...

Dear PCN (of over 2600 subscribers),

Fall and more – Besides being the time of year when almost all of our family birthdays are, Fall has always been a special time of year.  After a hot humid summer the first cool waff of air speaks to me in so many wonderful ways.  Fall spells a transition toward a wonderful purifying and incredibly important winter, but before we think about snow there are Fall activities.  Fall walks in the woods, Fall colors, Fall frosts spelling the end to the mosquito season…..ahhhhh, Fall sports… especially football.   And in addition to all of that, the Thanksgiving and Pre-Christmas seasons are all a part of Fall. Fall flying is also special and everyone has a favorite time of season to fly, drive or do activities……mine has always been Fall.   So as we move into this great time of year, I hope you’re ready and I hope you have a very wonderful and memorable Fall!

50th Anniversary for Barb and I – Well,  many of you have met this marital milestone but we just recently made it.  The party was a humble affair that our kids arranged but a wonderful one at that.  Dear dear friends and family surrounded us in a unique and peaceful country setting for our 50th Anniversary celebration on a beautiful weather afternoon.  And yes, we still love each other after all these years.  Here is a collage from our event on Aug 13th

8 Hours of flying in a Columbia 400 in one day – Well, it has been a little while since I put in an 8 hour day in the air but that is what happened August 24th.   We flew from Cincinnati to Providence, RI and back in one day and while it wore me out we had a great flight in this little high tech airplane.  The COL4 has a Lyc 540T and is very comfortable flying in the mid teen altitudes.  We chose 11,000’ and it settled in there very nicely.  The G1000 flight management system and auto pilot makes me realize how advanced many of these newer GA aircraft can be.  As would be the case we got to talking and had a comm that was underperforming and we lost NY center.  Well, in the ole days that was a scramble to open the charts and start fishing for a friendly voice.  With the G1000, select the “Nearest” section than page to frequencies.  Wahlah, a list of NY center frequencies next to your location.  It took about a minute.  That could have saved me in when we went NORDO in Europe for an uncomfortable half hour in the day.

There are many nice things to highlight but on the map page showing our location and track, it can be selected to show in a number of backgrounds such as terrain, sectional, or IFR Enroute or the Approach Plate.  In addition one can if turned on can view NEXRAD WX for the entire map.   This weather is current, accurate and not restricted by the range of the radar antenna because there isn’t any on the craft.  I don’t know, call me old, toys like this on a ASEL going on a X-C make things nice…..really nice.

Here below are a couple of pics from the flight adventure.  PS: The Columbia burns about 16 GPH and it was an eight hour flights so fuel price ranged from $7.50-$8.50 at PVD.  Ouch!!!.

Crewmember Hotel List UPDATED 2021 -  PCN, this list used to be easily available to us retirees as we had web access to the DAL FltOps section of DeltaNet.  However, since 2018 that has changed.  Through a little bit of luck this hotel list has been updated as of Nov 2021 and for any former crewmembers and retired DAL, the hotels listed “may” offer a discount for retired travelers.  Please check it out in the Travel Section.
