Select U.S.-Italy routes opening for non-rev travel
Published Date 5/28/2021 9:00 AM
Delta's COVID-tested flights will
open to non-revenue travel on select routes beginning Tuesday, June 1. These
flights require all passengers to complete mandatory testing before
departure and upon arrival, regardless of their vaccination status. After receiving
a negative test, travelers will not need to quarantine in Italy and can enjoy
their trip. Non-revs will have the option of visiting two of Italy's major
destinations from New York:
·
Daily service between New York-JFK and Milan
·
Three-times-a-week from New York-JFK to Rome
All routes to Italy will be available
to non-rev travelers beginning July 1, including daily service from Atlanta to
Rome, and increasing to daily service for New York-JFK to Rome. Later this
summer, non-revs will also be able to list on the New York-JFK to Venice
route beginning July 2, as well as Atlanta to Venice and Boston to Rome
beginning August 5. Non-rev travelers will be responsible for complying with
testing and entry requirements for each destination.
Ready to make your summer plans? Before
you pack your bags, here's what you need to know:
A fee of $110 is required for non-revs
(including jumpseat riders) through June 30. This fee covers the cost of
the airport rapid test before boarding your outbound flight, and due to streamlining
of requirements will not be needed beginning July 1. The fee will be payroll
deducted after travel is complete if you are traveling as a non-rev or using an
Award Positive Space pass, and you will only be charged once cleared on the
flight. Retirees and eligible alumni will receive a bill for this fee.
Those travelling on a yield fare or
buddy pass ticket, will have this fee included in the ticket price, like our
revenue passengers.
If you receive a positive COVID-19
result at the airport prior to boarding, you will complete a second rapid test
to confirm the result. If the second test is also positive, you will not be
allowed to board.
Times for check-in and seat assignments
are different for these flights through June 30. To accommodate required
testing at the gate, all passengers will need to be at the gate earlier than
usual. Check-in for these flights will close two hours prior to departure, and
all non-rev passengers must be at the gate no later than 90 minutes prior to
departure at which point seats will begin to be assigned. Any remaining nonrevs
will be cleared until 60 minutes prior to departure in order to facilitate the
pre-departure rapid test, located near the departure gate. If you are making a
flight connection in JFK prior to July 1, please allow sufficient time in your
connection to be present at the Italy departure gate by 90 minutes prior to
departure.
For travel before July 1, a COVID-19
PCR test is still required within 72 hours of the flight, at your own expense,
even if you are vaccinated. All passengers are required to provide proof of a
negative PCR test within 72 hours of each flight on these routes, and complete
a rapid test prior to boarding even if they have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
If you receive a positive PCR test, you
will need to reschedule your trip. Please cancel your Travelnet booking and
self-isolate in accordance with health guidelines.
Starting July 1, all passengers will be
required to provide a PCR or antigen test, at their own expense, taken within
48 hours of departure of the flight to Italy.
All passengers will be required to take
a rapid test on arrival into Italy, which may be at the passenger's expense if
arriving into Rome.

Canceling booked Award
Travel
Due to a technical issue with schedule
changes, you may encounter difficulty canceling Award Travel reservations. If
unable to cancel your Award Travel reservation in TravelNet, please follow
these steps:
·
Go to delta.com > My Trips and open your reservation.
·
If there was a schedule change, the screen will show "There
have been changes affecting your trip"
·
Click on the Acknowledge button in the top right corner next to
Flight Information.
These steps will clean up any schedule
change in the reservation and will clean up the PNR.
After the PNR changes have been
processed, go to TravelNet and cancel the reservation and your award pass(es)
will be automatically reinstated.
We expect a fix for this issue by the
end of July.

U.S. Restrictions on Cuba
Travel
On June 4, 2019, the U.S. Office
of Foreign Asset Control announced new restrictions for travel to Cuba.
U.S. travelers who booked travel on or after June 5, 2019 are no longer
permitted to travel to Cuba under the "group people-to-people"
travel authorization that has allowed Americans to visit Cuba in recent years.
These changes do not apply to travelers
who booked travel prior to June 5, 2019 that qualified under
the previously authorized "group people-to-people" travel category.
See Cuba Nonrevenue Travel Policy.
Amsterdam checked baggage
If you have checked bags and change
your standby listing, make sure to see an agent to have your bag tags added to
the new listing, even if you relist in the same record locator. If connecting
inbound to AMS and your bags are not checked beyond AMS, you must claim your
bags at arrivals and check them back in at the ticket counter.
BUDDY PASS EMBARGO CITIES
Buddy Passes to and from
international destinations are available to price, book and fly beginning Nov.
2, 2020. See below for permanent buddy pass embargo cities.
As we continue to adjust to changing
health guidelines and travel restrictions, we encourage you to prepare your
buddies for the "new normal" before booking their ticket. This
includes setting expectations around our current operation, in addition to
health and safety guidelines.
Before booking, make sure your buddy
knows:
·
We are currently not flying all of our
normal routes as scheduled, and all flights are operating at reduced capacity. Less routes
are available, and flights will be departing with empty seats in order to allow
for social distancing as we remain committed to making sure every customer and
pass rider has the space they need on every flight.
·
Many countries have travel restrictions
in place. Make sure your buddies are aware of the requirements to enter
their destination and make connections.
·
Masks are required on all Delta
flights. As a reminder, your pass riders (including buddies) are
required to abide by all pass travel policies - including
current COVID-19 mask wearing requirements. Failure to
comply may result in disciplinary action for the employee.
·
Help us keep our employees and other
customers safe. If you or your buddy has tested
positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed, they
should not be flying.
We're looking forward to welcoming your
Buddy Pass riders back on board to international destinations. Visit Self-Service
to add your buddy prior to authorizing and booking in TravelNet.
