March Madness:

We went to the Big Ten tourney to watch the lackluster Spartans lose in the first game. I cannot tell you how neat it was to be there in person at Lucas Oil which was already set up with two courts for the Big Dance that was about to start when the conference tourneys were over. Now that we are down to the Sweet 16 it has been fun to watch the Dance and its been filled with surprises galore. Also, nice to see that real fans have been allowed to attend and the energy certainly reflects that.

Cancel Culture (why live with the opposing view, just cancel them)

In the last issue I shared a vita supplement program we are employing (with success I might add) to fight a personal positive test of Covid, and to avoid the infection in the first place. We simply live a full life of travel, family and friends. And yes, I go to stores, church, ballgames (when I can) and now we are going on a river cruise. All, of these places have real humans there. Imagine that. I believe in being engaged with real people. So many of us have been re-programmed that holed up in our closets is the way we should live. I can’t and won’t comply. Life is far to short to fritter it away in a lonely basement. But if for some reason there are people that believe we must live in indefinite lock down than by all means help yourself. That was and is the view of the former PCN member that wrote me his accusatory email. For simply sharing of my experience, strategy and viewpoint, I received his vile and accusatory diatribe. Well, this lonely, bitter and angry ‘on the edge’ pilot strangely blamed me for all of his problems. When someone lashes out like that there is always no real justification for it other than the person is being totally irrational. Gee, would I like to share this real character’s name with you, as many would recognize it and you might know why this person was such an angry and out of bounds person. But my common sense and personal faith will not let me do that. If you been here on the PCN for awhile you already know that I didn’t set up a platform to use it to “change” people by preaching. Instead I have committed to “serve” the retired community by being an editor of PCN contributors and share them with the group in this High Life newsletter. So I would say that if you don’t like me sharing an occasional viewpoint or mentioning thing that I believe in, than its best you simply drop out.

And to state it again happily my accuser is now a former member of the PCN.

Why I mention all of this is the reality within this life of “different opinions.” After all, we all have one, yet not too many of us share the exact same one. We have all experienced this terrible year of Covid. And all have our own opinions about why it is here, why our social response was what it was, and how we can survive it all. Yet, none of us had anything to do with its traveling here. Still some, blame one another for its cause and continuance. What a bizarre mixed up world this is when we turn on one another for holding a view that is different from our own. If symbiotic opinions are a requirement and we were still flying we wouldn’t have a FO within the airline we could fly with because they all hold views different from ours. Let that sink in, if we all had to hold the exact same life view to work together, then Capt X wouldn’t be able to operate with a single current airline FO, since they all have views different from his.

Let’s all have a little grace and forward a little grace to one another. Tolerance is in order. Reasonableness is in order. Not one of us, though we may have been dictators in the cockpit, are the “chosen one” regarding all the correct answers when it comes to covid. Lighten up and live again. And for gosh sakes, get out and travel some. Try reconnecting with human beings in a social way ……even if its just a little bit. And maybe some of the fear that has been peddled, will be seen in a different light. Maybe it will be seen as impeding liberties and hurting kids and adults that actually need one another.
