Comments -  UPDATED HOTEL LIST?

While traveling, I have found the PCN gathered list of crew hotels to be of some value. Noticed the list is going on 2 years old, and wondered about the chances of an updated list. The Summer of 2018, I used the list to book a room in MUC for what I thought was a good rate of 106 Euro/night [room only]. Upon check in we were offered a 50% discount on the breakfast, but ONLY if we took it for all 3 nights of our stay. Passed on that deal, since we didn't know how early we would be starting some days. Then, this past Summer [July], I received a rate of $85/ night for a SUITE at the Holiday Inn DEN a/p. This is where the crews stay on short layovers. The manager said they were about to become a Hilton, hence the inquiry about an updated list. Not having as much luck with the NH chain of hotels in AMS for Spring of 2020. I have made 2 telephone calls to the NH central reservations number. On the 1st one, a very nice lady [Ania?] took all my information and said they'd get back to me. They NEVER did. On the 2nd call, after I told the lady I was having a hard time understanding her, she hung up on me. Also tried emailing both crew hotels [prefer having a paper trail] twice. NEVER even got a response IE: yes, no, maybe. Nothing. Would still like to see an updated list, since hotel contracts are probably only good for a year or so. Thanks- Joel Payne B767A [ret.]

Editor:  Capt Payne I really appreciate you using the info provided by Delta for crewmembers and shared on the PCN.  Full disclosure I used to try and get a crewmember discount at hotels after retirement for about 5 years.  Many times the request was granted especially when Delta ID card shown.  Now, I use miles and points and rarely pay cash for a hotel.  But to answer, Capt Payne’s question, that information, as all other operational information, used to be accessible on the DeltaNet, to even retirees, since they didn’t isolate retirees from active employees.  That is not the case today. Other operational info such as bid awards, seniority list, etc are also not accessible from the retiree login on our limited DeltaNet.   It may be possible to get a hold of an updated list but the PCN would have to get some help from Delta or active employees.   That may be something the new PCN Dir will want to tackle.  In the meantime a list that is admittedly dated yet does contain many hotels still used by Delta with negotiated room rates for company personnel.

TROUBLE WITH DELTANET PASSWORD UPDATE!
DeltaNet alerted me that my password needed to be updated.  So like a good user I clicked on the login page ‘update password link’ and it failed to travel to correct page multiple times.  I thought Hhmmmm. They want me to update but I can’t get to correct page.  The links do not work in every browser.  I personally have the best luck in DeltaNet with MS Internet Explorer or Edge.  When I finally got to the correct page and tried to update the password DeltaNet wouldn’t recognize it and after 5 tries it locked me out.  Now you can wait 24 hours and the lockout resets and you can try it again, so I did.  But to no avail, and I got locked out again.  Alas, when you have password login difficulties, keep these phone numbers close by as they may become your lifeline to getting your password reset:

Heads up 👀
Appears  this needs be reposted.

This is from a  VERY trusted person....

**PSA part Deux**

(I’m just the messenger trying to save your benefits and career)

There was a company-wide email sent out reminding employees of 2 important policies. Violating them can have repercussions including loss of flying benefits, promotions or termination......Email  re adhering to security policies....was sent early October....Don’t have exact date!!!

1. Only the employee is allowed to use their log in credentials.

Per policy you are NOT allowed to give login credentials to anyone for any reason! This includes ANYONE in your PPR list. Your PPR list people are required to use the Travel line or you, the employee, to handle the search, listing and check in if needed.

The company has automaton to flag logins from separate locations.

Example:

Employee is a Gate agent and working Gate Z99 in East Paducah airport. Their spouse (non employee) is in Seattle signed into Travelnet and checking and listing for flights. This will cause a RED FLAG
🚩 with the company. The employee has now put their flight benefits and career in jeopardy.

2. Using unapproved Third party apps to login into DeltaNet or TravelNet is forbidden.

Apparently there are apps or programs out there that employees are using for themselves or allowing others to use to gain access for various reasons. I was unaware of this until I posted my first PSA and was informed of their existence thanks to some FGF followers. Regardless, there is apparently automation in place to flag these logins. If you are caught using them you are risking your flight benefits and possibly your job!!

Since I posted my first PSA, I have been informed of the following, all due to allowing a non-employee in their PPR to login using their credentials.

7 fired

1 = 3 year loss of flying benefits and loss of any promotions.

1 = 1 year loss of flying benefits

As for the people that sign at work with multiple devices and VPNs that show you in different geographical locations. Common sense would dictate that as long as you can explain this with proof it’s only you, then I would think you are safe.

If you use multiple devices at same time to check loads etc, I do this also, I would think you are safe if you show in same location. It’s the logins in two widely different locations that seem to be the Red Flag
🚩 target.

We are all adults here, you do what you want to do with this information.

Until some kind of app or better system is in place the Travel line should be your friend.

Editor Notes and Request:  First, a request:  If any PCN retiree has had benefits suspended or terminated I would like to know the details.  Please contact me.  My notes and thoughts:  I would think that the company has less concern about retirees for a number of reasons.  The retiree login has been changed to a “limited” DeltaNet access a few years ago.  An unauthorized user would then have a whole lot less sensitive area access than an active employee login.  For that reason, my hunch is the company will spend less resources hunting down and punishing retiree violations of this policy.  If I am wrong, then I would like to hear from any who know more on this subject.
We earned our travel benefits, let’s use them. At the same time the company has a legitimate right to control login access.  A few good practices will prevent heartburn, raised blood pressure or worse a letter from ivory tower.

Subject: Questionable info

Mark,
Thanks for continuing the PCN publications. I find them interesting and informative. However in #310, the info about only the employee logging into Travelnet has some questionable info. I’ve asked the Local Delta Pioneer chapter president to verify it. Then, my Computer Genius son called and pointed out some indications that much was misinformation and the message had characteristics of a bogus email. It states “from a reliable source” without citing that source, and the log in must come from a computer that has one’s own name. He says that a log-in will not show the name on one’s computer. He had some other technical points that I can’t remember. Perhaps you’ll hear from others that are much more tech savvy than me. I hope so, but in the meantime, said son advised me not to forward that info to anyone.
Mark,
Also, my son said that he thought the Delta regulation is correct, and that it has been in effect for years, but has not been rigidly enforced. He was skeptical that there have been 7 fired and the other pass suspension. I hope we can find someone that can substantiate how much is factual.

Thanks again for your good work.

Editor:  I thank Capt Fisher for the valuable add on info about this policy.  I personally do not know if people have lost benefits or have been fired for this but I pass it along so we can operate under caution.  If PCN members can add insight to this issue of multiple logins from remote locations causing a red flag, please post to the High Life and I will publish your story.
