Can someone please help out Capt Payne with his non-rev questions?

Have a travel question. Actually 2 questions, because I think they're kind of related. A bit of history.

Question #1- Finally got around to trying to use the "IDTravel" site after 31 years of flying and 19 years of retirement. Listed for 2 flights on Southwest, JAX-BNA-JAX since they were nonstop. Made the JAX-BNA flight just fine. On the return, didn't make the 1st flight BNA-JAX, so decided to non rev on DAL, BNA-ATL-JAX. Found a very nice DAL agent at an empty gate in BNA and she kindly created a listing for the spouse & I. Eventually got on both DAL flights, but that is another question. On returning home, I've been trying for ANY kind of refund for the unused portion of our journey [BNA-JAX]. Went back to the "IDTravel" site and I had a choice to call up the tickets by Ticket # or by PNR. I assume the PNR is the same as the Southwest confirmation #. When I tried that, I get the following message in RED- PNR retrieval:
An exception occurred.

( Bad Token! Expected [4268291] but received [null] ) Environment: Production (PRODUCTION) / prod01 Log Date: 2019-06-29 20:00:47,750 (Session: CEFFCE1BA7674998AE507D8D6232078E)

I then chose the ticket # way and got to a page with the listings and the return listing is still open. The remarks say I have to "cancel" the listing before requesting a refund. For the life of me, I CANNOT seem to find ANY link to click on to "CANCEL" the listing. Before leaving the Southwest gate in BNA, I asked the agent to cancel our standby status. Whether that has a bearing, I don't know. I also tried contacting the "IDTravel" site by email. Found out it is run by Lufthansa. They replied they could NOT help and said to contact my Pass Bureau. Tried the Pass Bureau by email. Filled out the form, including optional items to assist them. DAL would NOT accept the form and drew some red lines around the optional items I had filled in. Back spaced through those items and re-submitted. Still had the red lines and would NOT accept the form. Last ditch effort was to call. After 20+ minutes on hold, I gave up.

Anyone out there who can give me the step by step procedure for obtaining a refund (from IDTravel)?

The amount is probably less than $80, BUT I'd hate to have the same thing happen on a "big ticket" item.

Question #2. This was also my 1st experience of non-revving since the new "seat assignment at the gate for basic fares" went into effect. Looking at the GIDS screen at the gates [BNA & ATL] didn't seem to make any sense. In BNA, screen counted down the seats available. It also listed the seat #'s and boarding groups after the names. I assume these were for the "basic" seat assignments. When the screen showed "1" seat left, I told the spouse our chances were nil, since we were #'s 6 & 7 on the standby list. Then, lo & behold the agent started rattling standby names and we got called. Same thing happened in ATL, except the screen was showing "0" seats and we were about #'s 9 & 10. Only other note, was the lady agent in ATL seemed to have trouble pronouncing "Payne", since we didn't get it until the 2nd time. Of course, she chewed us out for not getting to the desk faster than we did. Still got aboard 10 minutes before scheduled departure, only to sit there for 15 minutes and 45 on the taxiway for weather.

Anyway, does anyone have a system that tells REALLY how many seats are available on a given flight, or do you just show up and take your chances?

Sorry this was so long- Joel Payne 767A [ret.]
