Thank you Dick. David
Don't know
if you "younger guys" ever flew with or knew of Glen Hanson out of
ORD, but the first four pictures show Glen as a partner in the restoration of a
B-25 back in the 1980's. He's the guy in the co-pilots seat and with the
reddish shirt on. I flew with Glen as copilot on the 880 out of ORD in the very
early 70's.The B-25 after the war belonged to the Bendix Corporation at Teteboro Airport, NJ where I learned to fly the (Aeronca Champ) in the early to mid 1950's. Bendix's used the 25 for flight testing of new equipment. They also had a F-82 Twin Mustang for high speed and high altitude testing. I will never forget siting in the grass as that Mustang went taxing by, the pilot with a helmet with lightning bolts on it. Man I thought that guy was god.
Oh well...........

Dick,
I wanted to
tell you it was a real pleasure to finally meet you and talk to you this past
sat at the airport. I asked Dave Stokes if he had your email address, and he
gave it to me.
It was
also a pleasure to learn that you flew with Glen Hanson. Glen was a real swell
guy to me and my oldest son Matt who you met also on sat. Matt always like
going to Uncle Glens house to visit.
I'm
enclosing some photos for you that I have of Glen and the B-25 that I was also
a partner in with Glen and a few other guys.
The first 3
photos are the day in Nov of 89 that we did the first engine run ups after 5
yrs of restoration. Hopefully you'll recognize Glen in the copilots seat with
Vic Tatelman in the pilots seat during the run up.
In the 3rd
photo, I'm sure you can recognize Glen. The last photo is the group of us that
stuck with it till the end, and took this photo post airworthiness test flight
with Vic at the controls, and I think Kermit Meeks (sp?) in the right seat.
Glen is not in the group photo as he was not technically still in the group
after selling his shares to Vic a few months prior to the maiden test flight.
You can see me 6 from the left with the toddler on my shoulders. The toddler is
my oldest son Matt. In the photo he was 15 mo old, and he's now 28. The maiden
flight after restoration was on May 19, 1991. A few days after this maiden
flight we moved the a/c to the Aurora Airport at Sugar Grove, IL, and operated
out of there for many yrs.
I wish I'd
had my camera with me last sat so I could have taken some photos. Hopefully we
can cross paths again so I can do so.
Best
Regards,
Jim Taylor
