Travel / Non Revving - HL 280 (1)

Note about layover hotels: The layover hotel info IS STILL AVAILABLE in a couple of locations including Inflight (IFS) section of Delta net. Login to DeltaNetDepartmentsIFSHotels.
My ID Travelmy experience with this form of “ID 90” travel run by Lufthansa.  My ID Travel is the industry replacement for the old ID 90 program run by Lufthansa and it has some advantages.

Pro’s:
Easy to get online directly from TravelNet
Easy to book and pay for flight listing directly from any computer
Hundreds of airlines are members thousand of available and flights
Cost comparable to the old ID 90

Cons:
Can’t see number totals for booked seats instead you get emoticons that generally tell you how it looks for standbys:
😊😐😞
I cheat a little on this and look at Kayak or Orbitz to view seats solds but here is the rub,  with My ID Travel you can’t tell how many other airline standbys are listed nor can you account for airline HK’s (customers affected by IROPs displacing non-revs) and/or last min bookings.  So picking a flight with a neutral face may well be a bum deal.  I did see flights with only 4 seats left still neutral.  It went to only 3 seats left before it went to a frownie.

Still you generally  have to go to the airline counter to get a seat or seat request card so you can get through TSA. You might be able to get through TSA with a printout of the purchase receipt for the standby listing,  but for some reason they didn’t email that to me promptly and you do not get a printout like Delta’s recognizable seat request card which allows for easy passage at TSA.   For example in Paris, you get listed and will be issued a boarding seat card when cleared which will then allow you to proceed through TSA.

Now a couple of tips on finding the listings.
1.       On the MY ID Travel web page you cannot simply enter city pairs and get a listing of available flights.  Its sort of a pain, but you have to select an Airline, then enter city pairs and dates and if there are flights it will then show them.  The actual selection of a flight to list on is straight forward and will drive you to a check out and pay page.

2.       Don’t assume that you cannot interline your baggage.  In other words if you non-rev on Delta for a leg to AMS then MyID Travel from there to your destination.  When you check in at Delta check to see if you can check bags to destination showing your listing sheet for MY ID Travel.

I ended up not using my listing and canceling for a refund is a two step process first to cancel then to ask for a refund.  It worked well with no complaints to get a refund.  Well, that’s it.  Don’t stay at home because Delta doesn’t fly there.  Get creative and try My ID Travel and then report to the PCN your experiences.  Happy tailwinds!
