Saw my first B-70 in June of 1960 in the
North American Hangar outside of L.A. Very impressive. After
briefings, one lucky guy in my cadet flight was going to win a flight with Bob
Hoover in a P-51 to Hamilton AFB outside of San Francisco. Hoover worked
for N.A. at the time. Out of about 40 cadets it came down to two guys.
I was one of them and then the coin flip. I took the bus. This too
shall pass - but I'll be bitter until the last day. Dick

got that sinking feeling!
Aboard the USS Eisenhower this past March: Arresting gear failure and probably a change of underwear later!
This is the reason why they always go full power
after touchdown just in case they don't get the wire or something else
happened.
Good thing it was a prop, a jet probably would have ended up
in the water...
