PCN Calendar UPDATED recently by efforts from Julian Black.  If you have an event to post on a one time or re-occurring basis, please mail it in.  Calendar

Subject: Mark your calendars - Annual WAL Gathering, Golf & Banquet - September 27 & 28

TO ALL WESTENERS:  The reservations for our "WallBird at Reno" on September 27, 28 and 29th have started to arrive. After reviewing the first notice that was sent out we feel it could be improved. We believe the included attachment, page 3, provides a form for you to let us know the number of meals you will require, your entree selection and the number of raffle chances you have chosen. If you have already submitted your selections and check, it has been logged in.
We are looking forward to seeing you this September. Let's really talk this event up with as many Western friends as possible. If any questions, call or send an email to Jerry.

(The Only Way To Fly)
WALLY BIRD AT RENO – 2016
ELDORADO HOTEL – RENO NEVADA
Hotel check in, Tues. Sept. 27 – check out Thurs. Sept 29
Mark your calendars and let’s really have a superior turnout. I have paid the registration fee to the hotel so now all we need are Western people to meet the guarantee. We want to include anyone that has had a history with Western. Pilots, Flight Attendants, baggage handlers, office personnel, mechanics, passenger agents and ticket counter personnel. All are invited. Dick Deeds, due to a severe back pain asked if I would help him out. I committed to three years. Thank you Dick for all that you have done to preserve “Wally.”
I have asked Gary Guilliat to be our Master of Ceremonies and Mel Younker to handle the golf festivities. Without any hesitation they said “YES.” Once again, Al Ehringer has invited us to his “Little Waldorf Saloon.” He is offering his open bar and hors d’oeuvres from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday September 27. The Saloon is located at 1661 N. Virginia Street, Reno, just 1.5 miles from the Eldorado Hotel. Al, we thank you for your great generosity.
The guest room rates this year will be: Standard Room, $54, Deluxe Room $65 and Luxury Room $79. Add on to those rates a 13.5% room tax, a $3 City tax and a $17 nightly resort fee. The resort fee includes: internet access, local and toll free phone calls, a room safe, coffee, Gym and complimentary Shuttle to and from the Reno airport, along with a complimentary valet or self-parking. Make sure and reference WALLYBIRDS REUNION 2016 as well as WALLY16 to insure the proper room rate when you make your reservation and when checking into the hotel. The hotel’s reservation number is 800-648-5966. The cutoff date for making room reservations is midnight Friday September 2nd. You may cancel your reservation up to 24 hrs. prior to check in with no penalty. For those of you that would like to check in early on Monday the 26th and check out Friday the 30th the Eldorado has a few rooms available at the same rates listed above.
The Banquet: September 28th is in the NOVI Lounge. The no-host bar opens at 4:30 PM. Dinner will begin at 6:00 PM and our evening program will begin at 7:00 PM. The Lounge will be open for us until 9:00 PM. The menu will offer three entrees, Roasted Rosemary Chicken, Grilled Salmon and Roast Prime Rib of Beef. They will be accompanied with a Fresh Garden Salad, Baked Potato, Fresh Seasonal Vegetables, Rolls and for dessert, Tiramisu. Each table will also have two bottles of Feffari Carano wine, a white and a red, courtesy of the Eldorado Hotel. The cost is $42.00 per person which includes tax and all gratuities.
Golf with Mel: We are planning to play at the Reno Lakeridge Golf Course on Wednesday Sept. 28. Tee times will be in the AM. Exact times and costs will be announced around September 1. Contact Mel at flboymel@sbcglobal.net or 775-378-6662 for pairing preferences.
Program Hosted by Gary: Gary has two DVD’s about Western to share. If anyone has a special request to share or would like to do a presentation contact Gary at gary@sbbmail.com or 530-272-8678.
Raffle for the “Large Players Suite” This year instead of an auction to help maintain our WallyBird@Reno bank account there will be a raffle for a special room in one of Eldorado’s Towers. The hotel sales department has offered a large Players Suite as the raffle prize. This is a 750 sq. ft. room with a jetted tub located in the Skyline Tower, valued at $280 for a two night stay. The winner will also be welcomed upon registration by “Congratulations, you have won the Large Players Suite.” This will include two bottles of Feffari Carano Wine, grapes, nuts, and cheeses.  There is No Limit on the number of raffle chances that you can buy.
Remember, your checks for $42 per meal and $10 for each Raffle Chance must be received by Jerry no later than September 22. This date is a hotel requirement so that your raffle chance can be included in the drawing. The drawing will be held by Jerry, Gary and Mel. Upon checking out the “winner” will be billed for that party’s previously reserved room.
We look forward to seeing all of you on Sept 27, 28 and 29.
Jerry, Gary, Mel

Hi Mark,
Duane is a second cousin of mine and was a long-time customer service agent at MSY, mostly worked in the Crown Room.  If you know anyone who might be interested, would you please forward this to them.  Thank you.

Richard,
I know you do not care about aviation collectibles, but could I ask a favor!  Would you please forward a copy of the attached show flyer to your network of aviation professionals. Active or retired or whatever…just trying to get the word out so I do not lose too much money.

Much appreciated,  Duane
