Re: PCN - NEWS - New DLNEt Website

Can you pass on a viable phone number for technical
assistance? Apparently my password is no longer valid and every attempt to
reset it results in an immediate page”timeout”. I’m not seeing anything new
here. I recall having a similar problem the last time I tried to use the
website a few years ago.
Editor: if you are having DLNet login
problems, please reset your password at: http://register.delta.com/ or if
you need to chat with an IT guy click: https://bgar.delta.com

Hi Mark:
How
you doing? Ed Bastian takes the reigns at Delta in about half an hour. I
know he was the key guy in getting the Retired Delta Pilots to agree to a
settlement for Delta dropping the "unqualified plan." The big
missing part was the lack of a snap back clause in the bankruptcy
agreement. Unlike the many other times that the pilots stepped up to help the
company when they were in trouble, this time Delta decided not to pay us back
after the "Storm."
Do you think Mr. Bastian will
"Do the right thing" now that Delta is doing well and the Retired Delta
Pilots are still giving up a big part of their earned retirement 10 years after
the crisis. Delta's real need for a concession from us has been over for
several years now.
Mr. Bastian would be the one to
do this. He could engineer a way if he wanted to. Let's hope and pray he
wants to make this right.

Editor:
No, I am not optimistic about any change by leadership in “doing the
right thing” for pilot retirees. No one
at the top really believes we got as hurt financially as we did and there is
absolutely no incentive for a creative solution. Opening the bankruptcy findings would be
troublesome for the D so they will not approach it. The only answer is for them to see our losses
as a humanitarian issue and find a solution outside re-opening the case. There is zero interest in that and whatever
you think of Ed, you must realize that he was one of the principle architects
of our misfortune creating the company windfall. Along these lines, I applaud every idea and effort that has and
will be done to try and make a difference including the proposed letter to the
editor of the AJC included below. But to
be honest, our quiver is out of arrows and they only way they will move is to
have a power position which we have yet to be able to attain.

While this letter,
and those like it, are to be commended for their effort, because we didn’t see
it published I think in the end it they may be barking up the wrong tree. None-the-less here below is David’s letter:

As a retired Delta pilot, I salute the accomplishments of all Delta employees who
Today brought record profits for Delta Air Lines.
Ed Bastian, a good man, is the new President.
Back in 72, Delta hired 200 pilots out of 10,000 applicants. I was one of the lucky few.
My qualifications included 1700 hours of multi-engine jet time, ex US Navy, a masters
Degree, and 26 years old.
Every pilot in the world knew Delta was the airline to fly for.
I admit I haven't worked a day in my life. It was a joy to fly for Delta. Great fellow pilots,
Wonderful flight attendants, superb maintenance, Boeing jets (the best!), a
Scheduling/ops department by which other airlines are measured, a best in the industry
Training/simulator dept. There was an attitude of customer service, manners, respect,
And gratitude from management toward the loyal employees.
In 2004, as economic storm clouds approached, after many years of service, a large
Number of pilots retired, looking to secure their promised retirements for their families.
In 2006, Delta cancelled the retirements of only the pilots, and only Delta pilots.
Many, as I, receive nothing, after 32 years of flying. All other employees, including all
The merged pilots, received full retirement.
There are 3500 of us.
My letters to Mr Ed Bastian, Ala the Shawshank Redemption, go unanswered.
At this time, of record profits, Mr Ed Bastian has the power, and the resources, to
Correct this glaring stain on Delta's superb reputation.
The silence roars.
Won't you please restore the retirement for the forgotten 3500 pilots?
Respectfully,
Captain David J Cann

Orders 75 Firm CS100 Aircraft With Options For 50 More CS100 Aircraft
Bombardier and Delta Air Lines have executed a firm agreement for the sale
and purchase of 75 CS100 aircraft with options for an additional 50 CS100
aircraft. Delta Air Lines may elect to convert a number of these aircraft into
CS300 at a later date.Based on the list price of the CS100 aircraft, the firm order is valued at approximately $5.6 billion.
"As we reshape our fleet for the future, the innovative onboard experience of the C Series is a perfect complement for the top-notch service provided every day by Delta people," said Ed Bastian, Delta's incoming chief executive. "These new aircraft are a solid investment, allowing us to take advantage of superior operating economics, network flexibility and best-in-class fuel performance."
"Welcoming Delta Air Lines to the C Series family of operators is a watershed moment for our game-changing aircraft. As an industry leader, Delta consistently ranks first with customers, business leaders and its peers - a benchmark for operational performance," said Fred Cromer, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. "This order is a resounding endorsement of the CS100 aircraft performance and its exceptionally low operating costs. In addition, its widest aisle, widest seats and largest bins in its class will be attractive features for Delta's passengers."
With this order, the largest in Bombardier Commercial Aircraft history, Delta becomes the C Series aircraft's largest customer. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in spring 2018.
