Pegasus Publishing Announces the Upcoming Release of The Wrong Road Home by Ian A. O’Connor:
The Wrong Road Home will be released nationwide on March 31, 2016.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – Pegasus Publishing & Entertainment Group announces the upcoming release of The Wrong Road Home by Ian A. O’Connor.  The Wrong Road Home will be available in trade paper (ISBN:  978-0-692-56965-8, 284 pages, $14.95) and eBook ($2.99) editions on March 31, 2016.

Celebrated writer Ian A. O’Connor has earned high praise for his previous books, including thrillers The Twilight of the Day, The Seventh Seal, The Barbarossa Covenantas well as his nonfiction work, SCRAPPY:  Memoirs of a U.S. Fighter Pilot, which he authored with legendary fighter pilot Howard C. "Scrappy" Johnson. O’Connor’s latest novel, The Wrong Road Home, is a larger-than-life tale about deceit, treachery, lies, and consequences.  In an advance review, Kirkus Reviews hails The Wrong Road Home as “an intimate look at a life lived as a lie.”  And what a lie it was…

Inspired by a true story, The Wrong Road Home is the story of Desmond Donahue. Born into abject poverty in Ireland, Donahue went on to successfully practice his craft as a surgeon for 20 years—first in Ireland and then the United States.  So isn’t Donahue’s tale a classic rags-to-riches, American dream story?  Hardly.  Donahue was girded with nothing more than a Chicago School System GED and several counterfeit medical diplomas. It seems impossible—and understandably so—but it’s a story based on a Miami Herald Sunday edition front page exposé.  An Oprah producer pursued the imposter for weeks, as did Bill O’Reilly. Simply put, Desmond Donahue’s story is a story that really happened.

The Wrong Road Home combines two cautionary tales.  The first warns how a Faustian bargain once struck allows for no turning back.  Desmond Donahue’s impossible dream of becoming a ‘doctor’ was indeed realized over time—and a ‘doctor’ he remained despite several close calls in the ensuing years.  But the second cautionary message is a stark examination of the terrible cost of a life decidedly not well-lived—living alone, forgoing marriage and children, never having a close friend—and having to keep everyone at arm’s length so the day would never arrive where he would inadvertently expose the awful truth about himself.

A gripping story that is alternately shocking, heartbreaking, and unbelievable, The Wrong Road Home will leave readers spellbound. Ian A. O’Connor, an imaginative and skillful storyteller, paints a vivid portrait of a complicated, complex character who comes alive within the story’s pages.   Reminiscent of Catch Me if You Can, The Wrong Road Home fuses elements of true crime, memoir, and drama.  Groundbreaking, inventive and innovative, The Wrong Road Home is an extraordinary story exceptionally well told.

Ian A. O’Connor received his B.A. degree in Political Science from St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, Kansas. He went on to graduate from both the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Air War College, and retired from the U. S. Air Force as a colonel.  He holds a commercial pilot’s certificate with single and multi-engine ratings.  In addition to a successful writing career, Ian specializes in providing medical professional liability coverage to physicians’ groups and other health-care related organizations.
O’Connor lives in Florida. For more information, please visit www.ianaoconnor.com
