Delta Travel Enhancements
Delta will go paperless for both
revenue and nonrevenue tickets effective June 1 to help reduce costs,
streamline booking, improve travel experience and to be in compliance with IATA
resolutions to eliminate paper tickets.
This change means that Delta will no
longer issue or accept paper tickets – only electronic ones – for travel on or
beyond June 1.
Delta currently maintains electronic
ZED and ID travel agreements for its employees with airlines using the online
myIDTravel platform, a platform endorsed by the ZED travel community which
Delta implemented in 2011.
Delta advised all of its airline
partners in 2012 that their use of this platform would be required in order to
continue interline agreements with them. In the four years since, several
airlines have elected not to adopt this electronic platform and instead
continue to require Delta pass riders to use paper tickets for travel.
Starting March 1, Delta will suspend
its ZED and ID travel agreements with these “paper only” airlines.
What this means:
- The last date that employees may purchase a paper ZED or ID ticket for nonrev travel on an affected airline is Feb. 29.
- The last date that employees may travel on a paper ZED or ID ticket on an affected airline is May 31.
See below for a list of airlines with whom Delta is
suspending ZED and ID nonrev travel agreements. Delta continues to encourage
these airlines to adopt the myIDTravel platform for electronic ticketing and
will be prepared to reinstate travel arrangements with them at the time they make
such a decision.
In the meantime, Delta employees can
continue to take advantage of a wide variety of nonrev travel options provided
through electronic ZED and ID travel agreements with over 125 other carriers, a
list of which can be found on the Other
Airline Travel page of the Pass Travel site of
DeltaNet.
“Paper only” carriers with whom ZED
and ID travel agreements will be suspended include:
- Aeroflot (SU)
- Aeromar (VW)
- Air Serbia (JU)
- Air Seychelles (HM)
- EgyptAir (MS)
- Japan Airlines (JL)
- Korean Air (KE)
- LAN Airlines (LA)
- Mandarin Airlines (AE)
- Montenegro Airlines (YM)
- PenAir (KS)
- Royal Air Maroc (AT)
- Royal Jordanian (RJ)
- TAROM (RO)
Note that Delta’s ZED travel agreements with Air Canada,
FlyBE, Great Lakes and Thai Airways currently require paper tickets. These
carriers plan to offer full electronic ticketing capability using the
myIDTravel platform by May, so Delta’s travel agreements with them can continue
without interruption.
Employees who have paper tickets they
cannot use before May 31 can find information about requesting a refund for
their purchase on the Ticketing and Refunds page
on the Pass Travel site of DeltaNet.
Delta is making additional improvements
to the nonrev travel program shared with its trans-Atlantic joint venture
partner Virgin Atlantic Airways.
Effective Feb. 22, Delta employees,
retirees and eligible family members will travel on the entire Virgin Atlantic
network free of charge – only international taxes and fees
will apply. This represents the elimination of the current £13 (or
approximately $21.00) per segment charge currently in place. Virgin
Atlantic employees will have similar privileges on all Delta flights.
When traveling on Virgin Atlantic,
Delta employees are placed on a higher boarding priority for the economy
cabin. The agreement places Delta nonrevs just after Virgin Atlantic
nonrevs but ahead of all other Virgin Atlantic codeshare and interline partners.
Employees will continue to obtain standby tickets and list for Virgin Atlantic
flights through TravelNet and the myIDTravel site.
Tickets purchased prior to Feb. 22
can be refunded on the MyIDTravel website accessible via TravelNet.
Tax tips: For those of us with
Medicare an IRS Form 1095 ( Insurance verification ) is not required to file
our 2015 taxes. If you are not on Medicare; this form probably will be
required and should have been provided by your Insurance provider.
