Dear PCN (of over 2600 subscribers),

Bengals boo hoo:
Yes, I got sucked in again.  It was fun to watch through most of the season and then when AJ Mcaran came in to lead the team as a back up QB the stage was set for a real neat opportunity.  But against the Steelers the team lost their cool and lost the game because of it.  Lesson?  Never lose your cool?  Nah.  That isn’t it.  Never root for the Bengals again.  That would be the lesson to re-learn.  So I’ll try.

Another trip to MI:
You know everyone of us have or will experience the needs of ailing parents. The last few years, juggling my work, interests, and grandkids verses these increased needs from both Barb and my parents have been a real challenge.  There are times I do feel sorry for myself but I shake it off and realize that it really is my obligation to pay it backwards.  I personally owe so much to our folks for their upbringing and care over the years that now in their time of need it is truly our job to give back.  So almost monthly we have been making the 8 hour trip north to assist with things.  Since my dad’s passing, my mom is now dealing with that loss as well as the strong possibility of her melanoma being back.  Circumstances aren’t always nice but life happens none-the-less.  Our family’s are our first duty.  Kids and Grandkids can pull in one direction and parents or relatives in the other.  Tomorrow morning we start another mission of love and hope that our efforts will be prove worthwhile.  In addition I hope that I continue to learn a thing or two about faithfulness, humility and service.

GOING HOME:
My musings about a return home while working, published in HL 243, made it in the local paper.  I am famous ………..sort of.   Of course the piece that I have written that I wish would get published “Is Your Retirement Safe.”    But for some reason our hard luck story is not as “interesting” as a feel good story.

Here is that article meant for the before Christmas yearnings.  Click the following link if you haven’t seen it and have an interest to read.   https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzB_SBDmSd9AWjR3V3V0NUZRLWM/view?usp=sharing
