AA Captain dies unfortunately enroute to Boston. I have to admit an insensitive thought. I certainly am sorry for this captain and his
family, however, I did have the fleeting thought that at least I (we) made it
through our careers without dying in the saddle. God rest his soul.
Pilot Michael Johnston dies during American Airlines flight
(CNN)Medical emergencies are rare, but hardly unprecedented in
commercial flights.
It's far less common when they
involve the plane's pilot -- and that pilot dies.
That's what happened Monday on an
American Airlines flight between Phoenix and Boston.
Captain Michael Johnston, 57, was
piloting the plane when he fell ill somewhere en route. The co-pilot landed the
jet safely.
Crew members "took
extraordinary care of Mike, each other and our customers," airline CEO
Doug Parker said in a statement sent to employees.
"We couldn't be more proud of
the teamwork this crew showed during an extremely difficult time."

Subject: Norteast Airlines Class of 10/04/1965
Friends,
This Sunday October 04, 2015 marks the 50th Anniversary of our class
0165. The 20 New Hires gathered at 08:30 in the "Candy Factory on
the North End of Logan International Airport. We were greeted by Captain Paul
Clancy. Northeast Airlines needed pilots to replace those who would be
upgrading to the 20 new B727's and DC9's.None had the Flight Engineer Rating
,however, there were 6 of us that had the Flight Engineer Written, of which, I was
one. The rest would become DC6 Flight Engineers. The 6 consisted of Ed Moore
and Chuck Guiterrez with Captain Jim Moran, Don Bartlett and Nick Gravino with
Captain Angus Perry and Bill Pitts and Randy Schmoyer with Captain Russ Worth.
As far as I know, the following have passed away, Dick White, Chuck
Guiterrez,Jim Fletcher,Ray Remick and Dick Spinney. Don Bartlett never made it.
Everything that I have , I owe to Captain Angus Perry and Pat Malone, may they
Rest in Peace.
