Delta Golden Wings Reunion at Savannah, Georgia
August 23 - 27, 2015

From Delta Golden Wings President, Larry Berdoll:

Our Savannah reunion this year is at the old (but updated) Desoto Hilton Hotel in downtown. The nightly room rate is $109 plus taxes of $15.27 for a total of $124.27 daily. Breakfast ($16 per person for a buffet) is not included, but the hotel will give us a 15% discount on food taking the buffet price down to $13.60 per person plus tax. One may also order from the menu. There is also a small breakfast bar outside the hotel dining room serving beverages, and breakfast items. They serve Starbucks coffee. The normal $25/day charge for valet parking has been reduced by 25% to $18.75/day. Using valet, we can get our car out as many times as needed during the day. Other nearby parking, as Rollin has explained in a later article, is available, but once you park, you must stay for the entire day or pay for each time period you are in the garage.

The city of Savannah is a very popular tourist destination and rates at hotels rise starting September 1st. Even though the room rate seems pricy, had we waited until September or October to make our reunion reservation, we would have paid $45 more per night per room. Many hotels along both River and Bay Streets downtown cost more per night so I think we negotiated a pretty good deal for this city, especially an opportunity to stay downtown. The Desoto is a better location for us to stay.

Our "party room" (the hospitality suite) is on the top floor of the hotel, glassed in on three sides, giving superb views of the city - 180 degrees of beauty. You can reserve your room by calling 1-877-280-0751 and telling them our group code is "DGW." If you have any questions or special requests, please ask to speak with Tonya Harris. You may also
email them. We will have tours, food and fun so please try not to miss this one! More details will be coming your way on the Delta Golden Wings website or with the next magazine issue.

ORD-DAL fly-in will be Sept. 9 at Poplar Grove airport

Hi to all,
Dee and I drove our coach up to ATL area for the DGW  [2nd annual DAL Golden Wings]  fly-in at Ron Alexander’s  place. We had a nice visit with many OLD DAL people we don’t get to see very often,[rarely if ever]…
Ron had a good turnout apox 100 folks, 20 or so planes. There was one down side a Waco flown by a DAL guy and his wife flipped over while taxing in. As I understand it the injuries came from undoing their seat belts while inverted. Hope all are well!!!!....
I passed the word that the ORD-DAL fly-in will be Sept. 9 at Poplar Grove airport near RFD [Rockford, IL]…. Tried to talk Ron into bringing the DC-3 up,,,????.... We’ll see!!!!
This year’s hosts of the ORD-DAL fly-in will  be Steve McGreevy and his wife…..NOOOOO!!! not ME&DEE but our son Steve and his wife Katie. We will be there to supervise and I guess to help also….Many of you know Steve. He is an ATC controller at CHI center. He finished collage right at the ATC strike and got hired.. You know you’re getting old when your kid is talking retirement !!!!! They bought at  house at Poplar Grove and they have their C-170 in their hanger in the back yard ….

Looking forward to seeing you on  Sept. 9……
Dave S, Dave R, and Leo,  Steve would appreciate getting E-mail addresses so he can keep the group up to date on everything……
Best to ALL, DEE&Steve McGreevy
