The Delta Golden Wings (DGW) is sponsoring the event described in the attachmnet for Delta pilots. We are trying to get the word out to all pilots, active and retired.
Is it possible to publicize the announcement below in multiple editions of the newsletter leading up to May 21st? While the event is in the Atlanta area, we are trying to reach out to as many pilots as possible.
DGW is the fraternal organization of retired Delta pilots (and spouses) and all active Delta Pilots who have reached the age of 50. However, you do not have to be a member to attend the event.
Thank-you,
Jim Hoogerwerf

Delta Golden Wings FLY-IN/DRIVE-IN
May 21, 2014; 10am-4pm
*Rain or Shine*
The
FLY-IN/DRIVE-IN is the first annual event sponsored by Delta Golden Wings along
with the Candler Field Museum to foster the camaraderie of Delta pilots,
spouses, and friends in support of the Candler Field Youth Program. We will put
your airplane or special car on display for all to admire! If you don’t have an
airplane or special car, come anyway and enjoy the fun while supporting the
Candler Field Youth Program.
Visit the
museum or admire the cars and airplanes. Tour a DC-3 on static display and
watch a 1917 Curtiss JN-4 take flight (one of only a couple in the world that
still flies). For a few dollars take a ride in a vintage Waco YMF-5 biplane, or
enjoy a meal at the Barnstormer Grill which will be serving all day.
Retired
Delta Captain Ron Alexander owns and manages the Candler Field, the Candler
Field Museum, and teaches young people the skills to maintain and fly
airplanes. There is no admission fee however a donation to the Candler Field
Youth Program is requested to “Help Youth Achieve Their Dreams.”
We hope to
see you there!

Subject: Maundy Thursday vs. DC-9 Layover
For April our DC-9 Layover falls during the
Holy Week on Maundy Thursday. Several Navy types have expressed a concern
that having a few beers and good cheer then just might be
pushing the envelope a little too much for them because of their actions
the rest of the year. The Shore Patrol will verify that and are happy to
have at least one week in the year where they are not over tasked.
So, the ORD Delta Pilot's 3rd Thursday
of the month Simulated DC-9 Layover with be pushed back one week to Thursday the 24th.
Have a Happy Easter and see you the 24th at
Nick's Pizza and Pub in Crystal Lake, IL.
A reminder will be sent out prior to the
24th. David W. Skjerven
