Delta discontinues most buddy pass embargo dates; embargoes to Africa remain
Delta has
decided to discontinue most of its date-specific Buddy Pass embargoes, with the
exception of Africa. The embargoes were put into place to reduce the number of
standby passengers on historically high-volume travel dates so that agents
would be more available to assist revenue passengers. However, Delta has seen
that Buddy Pass traffic has shifted to the days before and after the embargo
dates, and not all cities are equally impacted by high passenger volume on
these days. The embargo to Africa remains due to high buddy pass saturation.
Additionally, all new international routes will have a 1-year buddy pass
embargo. Read more on DNN.
