What is the latest?
As to the efforts from our
representatives at the DP3, it may seem like it has been rather quiet. Obviously it is a frustratingly slow and long
slog waiting for the PBGC to rule on our appeal. I know that behind the scenes there are many
activities and efforts being done and for that we all owe our DP3 trustees not
only our support but our thanks.
Personally, I can vouch for these serving trustees as to their sincere
commitment and dedication to achieve a good resolution for our group. So what am I saying? Hang in there and begin or continue your
support for our DP3!

Subject: Buy back
Mark,
I have been retired since 2005. In addition to the lump sum I received at that time, I currently get about $900 a month from the PBGC. As I understand things, Delta currently pays the full retirement to retired Northwest pilots that never even wore a Delta uniform. The disparity is obvious and in light of the recently announced $1 billion buyback feels like a slap in the face. Is any action being contemplated?
Thanks,
Dick Baldwin

Editor: Dick,
Two actions are in the works. The DP3 is attempting to get a
re-calculation of our qualified benefits that the PBGC pays out. That
effort has a real potential of some relief and should be fully supported.
Then there is Rob
Moser who is leading an effort to gain a meeting to discuss the devastating
non-qualified loss that we suffered during and since bankruptcy.
Stay tuned and
engaged. Mark
Please tell me how I can be
engaged. Thanks, Dick Baldwin
Editor: From time to time I get requests about ”how
to get engaged or connected” like what Dick asked above. I included his email as a sample of those
that I offer my standard answer. And my
standard answer is, that this is why the PCN exists…….to keep our retired
pilots informed, connected and engaged.
So my suggestion to Dick and others is to simply join the PCN and become
a contributor. Which he has.
