A
somber moment in a corporate world that so many times has lost its moral compass.
Well done...dk
On
occasions like this, the PEOPLE of Delta Air Lines can still make me proud.

Subject: PCN Calendar question
Hi Mark,
Tonight, for the first time in months, I tried to open the PCN Calendar to check a breakfast date and place. But.....I was unable to open the calendar, even after signing in to google groups.

The message stated I was not cleared to view the calendar, so, how does one view the PCN calendar???

FYI
Just got this. Aren’t you glad you retired when you
did!
It's just another symptom of our corporation's dysfunction!

This is a synopsis of the final days for a dear friend and
consummate
professional aviator, United B777 First Officer Harold Ford.
After a flying career of over 40 years and many airlines
Harold has
retired from United Airlines. Harold flew the A320 as
Captain
and finished his UAL days as a B777 F/O in Dulles on
reserve. The
Flight Office there was latent in assigning him a final trip
to
fly as a retirement trip. His wife was looking
forward to
accompanying him on his final trip. After several calls to
the DCAFO
he sat out his final days on Reserve only to be assigned a
three day
PC-FILL IN as his final trip. Harold's emails and
calls to the
Flight Office brought the following response from the DCA
Chief Pilot,
" Well Harold, you have to admire their SENSE OF
HUMOR."
That was it......
Needless to say, he did not feel well enough to DH to DEN to
accomplish this task.
This is an example, to me, to all of us, why this once great
airline
is no longer even a facsimile of it's former self.
Somewhere, Pat Patterson (the once great leader and builder
of United
Airlines) is rolling over in his grave.
Fly safely my friends.
Check your 6!
This is what it’s like to be a pilot at
United. Anyone out there
STILL trying to do ANYTHING over and above what’s required?
Anyone
still turning on Channel 9? Anyone still doing PR
for United?
ANYONE? This is the thanks you’ll get.
I ran into Denny Holman at the hotel in PEK. His
F/O was on his last
trip, after 22 years at United, following destroyed careers
at Braniff
and Eastern. He was just glad to be leaving.
This is what management thinks of every one of you. Don’t
ever forget
that. A PC fill-in for your last trip!?!? What a
way to go. I’m glad
he used sick leave to avoid going. I hope the DC chief pilot
(small
letters), whoever it now is, has a similar
retirement. Do you think
Poss Horton would have allowed that? No way.
You guys at other airlines, please pass this on to others so
they know
how crappy it is to fly at Con-U.

A great friend’s son Col. Chip Brown
is ending his command in Japan and headed back stateside. Congratulations on a job well done and
welcome back Chip.

recently conducted a readiness week, allowing Airmen to hone their ability to
provide professional airlift in support of any contingencies in the Pacific.
