Dear PCN (of over 2600 subscribers),

“One of the most powerful things the media has is the ability to ignore a story,” Richard Grenell.  This quote also applies to Companies.  The Delta Retired Pilot disproportionate harm from the pension termination is a powerful story of inequity. Yet so far, it has been ignored by the company.  If the “story” is ever going to change (rather than just go away) then it will be because good people did good work.  See the Petition section for more.

Two weeks – Two hotels:  There were times while flying for the D that we got stuck in a hotel for an extended stay.  This last week I have burnt one of the two weeks that is on my schedule in a single hotel.  I can tell you that these 4 walls are beginning to look far too familiar and I am going a little stir crazy.  Tomorrow we make an Atlantic crossing and my hotel hell begins anew.  Phew,  what we do to stay in the game.

Breaking up the drudgery:  Like in the old days, with a good layover, I invited my wife along.  So Barb came over to BWI and we spent a few days in the area.  We connected to the DC Metro by a bus and enjoyed a great day in Washington.  Since Obama was not there we were happier.  Just joking!  What we did have a chance to do,  was connect with a nephew who serves a NY congressman as his chief of staff.  Clint got us into the capitol directly but even better, got us an invite to a private luncheon.  Now in our summer casual clothes we were eating high end on fine linens in the member’s dining room of the capitol.  Very special and quite memorable and reminded us again of how cushy the DC lifestyle can be.  Highlight of the lunch?  Our personal highlight was having a chance to bow and pray in the back halls of the capitol for everyone and all that goes on in our nation’s capitol.  Somehow we get the feeling that they do not get enough of that.   Here below is a pic of Barb and I just outside the Member’s Dining Room.    More here: http://history.house.gov/Exhibitions-and-Publications/Dining-Room/History/

Dish Sling Box:  Why would anyone want to watch their local TV while on the road?  Well, let me give you a couple of reasons.  How about that MLB team you are following but cannot watch while traveling?  How about local news or shows that you follow?  How about because the only thing on your room tv is in Swahili?  All of these are great reason to investigate and learn about “streaming live tv.”  With either DISH or Direct TV, there are devices that will stream your home signal via an internet connection.  While in Trinidad, I was able to watch the Reds on my IPad at poolside.  Pretty cool! It is also possible to watch my favorite college football on my phone while being transferred about.    There are cable companies now, (Time-Warner, etc) that also allow for digital tv while on the road.  If you and the wife travel, check into it.  It may be a feature you don’t want to live without.
