Subject: Laptops in China
Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear about your DECU scam. I hope that
works out as it sounds like DECU has a security problem. My daughter
works for the US Government at the Census Bureau in DC. She had a
friend go to China a couple of years ago and took a government laptop with
her. When she came back, she had to turn in the laptop to IT and it
took about two weeks to get it cleaned up. I guess China spies on
everyone's computer but especially likes Americans. Have a good
week, Jim
Editor: I received
many well wishes concerning the scam like this one from Jim. I thank you and as reported above in the
Finance section my story ended well.

Flown West: The PCN has picked up on what
David Roberts started by honoring our fellow aviators who have taken their
final flight west. We archive their info and notices at the PCN Flown West site. I know that some of you do not like receiving
these death notices and that is just fine.
For those who wish to stay on the PCN list but NOT receive death notices
it is easy to fix. Just block the email
that generates the death notices, death@pilotcommunication.net.
But for those, like me, who feel this is a very
unique brotherhood, one that is special in many ways, please stay on the list
so you may honor those who have taken their last flight. This community of aviation is a small world
and we all make so many friends. It is
really great when we continue in friendships and remain connected years after
our flying days. Below is a picture
taken at the funeral of a Chicago legend Werner James. It is this community of aviators that form
bonds that last a lifetime and beyond.
If you ask, “why we do it?” it is because of this: Pilots who have flown
together, served together, shared together and who remain buddies and friends
for life and who show support in your time of illness of passing. Just like these Chicago Captains below:
