Insurance - HL 162 (1)

Date: 03/11/13 18:38:22
Subject: DPMP

Mark,

I would like to communicate a little victory I have had with the Delta ESC over DPMP. There may be others who could benefit from this. I am a zero percenter and I just recently returned to DPMP. Per the 1114 committee agreement, certain retired pilots are eligible for a 49% subsidy from Delta. Currently the published rate on the Deltanet for DPMP is 717.44 per eligible person. The Deltanet site will not show the sibsidized rate because I think you have to be eligible for that rate.

Anyway after the 49% subsidy the rate is 365.89. You have to be in a certain retiree classification and between ages 60 and 64. Additionally those who receive no PBGC benefit, and ineligible for the HCTC are entitled to a 65% subsidy from Delta. I was made aware by someone from DP3 there are 33 pilots receiving no PBGC benefit of which I am one.

After almost two months of back and forth with the ESC, I was informed today that I will be afforded the 65% subsidy from Delta. My rate for my self and my wife will be 251.10 (717.44 x 35%) until I turn 65 and go on medicare. Additionally those who may have been eligible for this subsidy but did not know and paid the higher rate may be able to petition for a refund.
