Mark,
Watching a 4 year anniversary show on the " Miracle on
the Hudson" today it occurs to me that we apparently have not tapped a
resource of other pilots at other airlines who have lost their retirement to
use of bankruptcy as a means of doing business. It was acknowledged at the time
that Captain Sullenberger was facing a bleak future because of similar
financial dealings at USAir. He was able to walk away because of other
opportunities that appeared.
We seemed to have reached the wall on our own property? We could
use some high profile spokes person to ad to the effort. Certainly can not
count on any politicians!!!
Regards, Rick Bauer
Editor: Rick another good idea. To revisit the thought process on the
petition, allow me to state it was never about numbers. The goal is to get a meeting and not to have
100,000 signatures. 3000 is significant
support for this effort and when printed (with comments) and bound will be over
150 pages and quite an impact in the hand of the reader. How this effort really excels in my opinion,
is the collection of comments. You
cannot read the comments without feeling an impact. By the way the packet delivered to our
targets will have a loose leaf “best of the best” comments summary for quick and
easy reading.

The effort of groveling in the dirt at the feet of
"Richard" is far beneath the level of professionalism shared by this
retired pilot. A better idea , using the market forces, would be to have every
disgruntled employee collect a petition of names of people who pledge not to
fly Delta Airlines because of their selfishly misguided business/labor
practices.

Editor: Frank, thanks for your post.
Concerning the petition and the desired meeting with Richard, no one wants to
grovel. Your point has been well noted
and obviously thought of before. Regarding
a pressure campaign, we agree that would not be welcome activity by the company
and may well have an impact. The
strategy is for a rational professional appeal before any follow up ideas are
implemented.

Bankruptcy Irony!!
Mark,
Those of us older retired pilots I'm sure can remember the times
that we paid strike benefits for the NWA pilots that went on strike several
times I believe in the 60's, 70's and maybe even 80's when their CEO Nyrop
started the Mutual Aid Pact. Now all are receiving their full pension and that
includes the Scabs!! that crossed the picket lines. Also if I''m not wrong
the NWA pilots that were on disability are now receiving their
pensions from the Delta D&S funds. Talk about irony especially after being
a dues paying ALPA member for 35 years and never being on strike!!
Thanks for all you do!

against another as Woody full well realizes.
We now have growing NWA/DAL subscribers to the PCN and for good
reason. We are in this thing
together. What the 3500 want known, is
not what anyone else got, but simply the inequity of the situation of our
disproportionate reductions and the only one who can really address this is our
company.
