Subject: DELTA'S OLDEST LIVING RETIRED PILOTS..2013

With the attachments this time....!!
DELTA'S OLDEST LIVING RETIRED PILOTS..2013

Hello all and Merry Christmas to you and yours,

Each year I add new names to the list of DELTA'S OLDEST LIVING RETIRED PILOTS; those pilots who will become 86 years old during this coming year. So if you were born in 1927 or earlier, your name should be on the attached list. It is well that we recognize and honor these pilots who were pathfinders for those of us who came later.

Regardless of which airline you started with, you are now part of the Delta conglomerate, and your name should be on this list. Choosing age 86 was my arbitrary choice and seemed reasonable enough. If illness prevents the pilot from sending this information, please have a family member send it.

To add your name to the list, please send me:

  • Your full name
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your wife's name. If she is deceased, please send me her name and date of death
  • Your Date of Hire
  • Your original company which is now part of Delta's Family Tree
  • Your mailing address and telephone number
  • Your email address, or a family member's email address

Delta's current Oldest Living Retired Pilot is retired Northwest Captain Joseph E. Krimm, 101, born August 18, 1911, and hired by Northwest July 1, 1929.

The list of DELTA'S OLDEST LIVING RETIRED PILOTS is attached below in Chronological Order in both .pdf format and in MS Excel format. With Excel you can sort and re-sort the list any way you like. Those pilots shown highlighted in YELLOW passed away during 2012 and their names will be deleted from the 2013 list. Please check the list before you reply. If your name and information is correct on the list, I do not need that information again

Note: For best results on viewing and printing the attached PDF file, you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Click on this link to install:

Editor: Dave produces this list faithfully every year.  He just updated it.  I publish the list on our semi private PCN site, HOWEVER IT IS BEHIND A PASSWORD!  Because these pilots are alive we wish to be careful with there info so you can view this list by clicking on the link:  http://pcn.homestead.com/Archived_Oldest_Liv.html

Macs and AOL both report conflicts with petition site:

Subject: From Doug Smith, retiree

Hi Mark:

I really appreciate what is going on with the petition. However, it does not work with Macintosh computers and that is sad (and goofy).

I wrote up a response, but it lost that and would not even sign it for me, so I'm writing you instead. I did the analysis and indeed it asked about the Mac and also about the post code, so you apparently already know the glitches.

Whatever is going on, it's so sad in the year 2012 when Macintosh computers have a huge market share, and still some of these outfits don't get it.

I'll do whatever you want me to do, but I don't have time to arm-wrestle with "CARE2" any more.

You can sign me up, use my name, check the boxes to include Facebook, whatever, and use all the stuff below. I don't know how to resurrect my write-up of support, but maybe you do.

THanks, Mark and great work on getting this going. I was hired in 1977 by Delta, and "escaped" in August 2005, at age 56. Please send this to Bob Moser, too, who flew with me in India, and was in the same class grouping as new hires with Delta.

Douglas W. Smith, President

Editor: Doug, that really bothers me too, but this is my first petition online and I didn’t have a chance to check all that out ahead of time.  I do use my IPAD successfully with Care2. All I know is that some browsers are not compatible so it has been necessary to switch to IE or Firefox or similar in the windows world.  Sorry about the trouble. Sign it at a public or borrowed computer.
