ALPA Dues REFUND? More on this. 

As you recall in HL 149 I published this received from a friend; “Reference MEC letter of Nov 26, a dues refund from Special MEC Reserve Account (SMRA) of $7,081,729 distributed.”  Talked on phone to an ALPA rep and it seems that the MEC’s war-chest (not national ALPA) was over $8 million so they decided to refund much of it.  The years being refunded were 2004, 2006 and 2010.  Some of the reports coming in involve checks being received for approx $7-800.  I personally have not seen any check yet but will happily take anything back I can get from DALPA. 

Note: I just got a refund check for $622.  If you were paying dues in 2004 then check with DALPA about your’s.  Take a look below at the form letter DALPA sent out with the refund:

Hi Mark, I got an ALPA check today in the mail for "dues refund". Had there been 5 or 6 more zeros in front of the decimal point it would have been something and made up for the retirement we lost because DAL ALPA had its head in the sand. Is ALPA trying to buy me off with petty beer money? David W. Skjerven
