Veterans' Health...13 links.
Received
this from a retired Navy Senior Chief who served on the USS Wasp in the early
50’s. Forwarding to all military guys on my list including Mark S. at the PCN.
This is not for everyone. There is “means testing”, copays, etc. And you may
not even want to be near a VA center or hospital. Just an FYI.
Let me know if
unable to open the link and I will resend.

VA has numerous ways to help Vets. Many do not know our programs
exist. You can help. Print out this story, put a few of them in your car, and
hand them out when you meet a Vet, on the street, at church on Sunday,
wherever.

Posting of email
Hi Ron,
Glad to hear you're getting better. I've been concerned with both you and with Les Byrd out there. You two are keeping the doctors kids in college very well it seems. Seriously though we're all concerned about you and all that has happened over the past few years.
The only Delta info page I'm aware of is in retired Captain Mark Sztanyo's Pilot Communications Net. He has several email addresses depending on what you want posted. They are:
Sztanyo Mark <mark@pilotcommunication.net> (859-525-0259)
Mark@pilotcommunication.net
misc@pilotcommunication.net
pcn.calendar@gmail.com
signup@pilotcommunication.net
death@pilotcommunication.net
illness@pilotcommunication.net
I'm also sending this to his miscellaneous address above to add to his HighLife weekly email newsletter.
Regards,
Dave

Hello Dave:
hope all is well with you. I am improving daily with the Lord's help.
I want to post a notice on the new Delta info page but am having problems with the procedure.
Would please post the following for the Delta group?
Auto (new) Buying: USAA has a great service of getting low prices on new cars and it is free. For example I was quoted a 7.47% discount on a new Mercedes. That is over $4,100 off the MSRP on a $55,000 car. Contact USAA car buying service, show them which car you want (with all options), they will send you the MSRP price and the discounted price. Take it to your dealer and most will accept it. You may even get more discount from the dealer. It don't hurt to ask. Ron Knott
Thanks Dave.

WARNING.......CAUTION.......WARNING
I just received this e-mail, and am sending it to you for your protection!
I watched this youtube video, and then checked my credit cards for the little "WiFi RFID Signal Icon" on each one. I found none with that signal on them, but I am determined to watch for it when my cards come in on renewals.
If one does arrive with the RFID signal on it, I'll go to the sender to try and have it replaced with a non RFID card.
Watch this video to see how easily your credit card data can be captured without your knowledge and pasted to any other magnetic style card, i.e., a hotel room key card, and used to charge items on your account.
This is NEED-TO-KNOW information...!!

update
I
think a little review is in order. In December it will be four years since we
started chasing melanomas on my scalp. For the first three years of the chase
it had almost become routine: two or three months after an excision, another
one would show, and we would do it again. I joked that I had been put to sleep
so many times that I was becoming addicted to general anesthesia. Until a year
ago, there had been no indication of metastases. But last fall, when a scan
showed the melanoma growing into my skull, I was not too worried. This was
surgery number nine. A neurosurgeon would be involved with the plastic surgeon.
He explained that it was very unlikely that the melanoma had gone through the
dura and into the brain. He thought he would need to remove about a one inch
square section of my skull, and the plastic surgeon would finish. Wrong. He
removed a section of my skull that was about two inches by three inches, and
the cancer cells were attached to my brain.
I
was now dealing with stage IV melanoma and a couple of weeks later it showed up
in a chest x-ray. I sometimes think there is too much information available on
Google, and it didn’t take me very long to find that the median survival rate
for brain melanoma was measured in months, not years. It is amazing how much
sympathy your friends give you when you have a big sunken spot on the side of
your head, and scars from the top of your head down to your collar line. My
plastic surgeon is a very positive man. He examined his work about a month
after the surgery and said; “when they get the cancer under control, I will
give you a better looking skull than the one you had.” I am so hard headed that
I believed him.
During
the last year, I’ve had dozens of people tell me that they have never seen
anyone handle facing death like I have. I have been told over and over how
tough I am, what an inspiration I am, etc, etc, etc. Well, I am not tough, and
I long to live long enough to see my seven grandchildren grow up. A lot of you
are not going to understand what I am going to say next, but I am praying as I
write this that you will read until the end. I don’t have a clue about when I
may take my last breath on planet Earth, but I know that when it happens, I
will wake up in the presence of Jesus.
A
lot of you who knew me before Christ came into my life are still amazed that He
saved one as wild as I was, but He did. The US church is so into the world
today that I fear some of my “church going” friends will die without ever
hearing the true gospel message. In my wife’s old age, she frequently asks
friends – some she barely knows – if they died tonight would they go to heaven.
Too many of our friends give answers like, “I hope so” or “I have tried to live
a good life”, etc. Those are the wrong answers.
You
may be a person who doesn’t believe in God. You may believe when it is over
here you just go to sleep. You may have been a church member your whole life,
but you may never have made a personal commitment to Christ. In the 3rd
chapter of John, Jesus tells Nicodemus how to be a Christian. If you fall into
any of the aforementioned categories, read the first 21 verses of John 3
tonight. Pray and ask God to reveal himself to you. What do you have to lose?
You have nothing to lose!
About
my positive thinking plastic surgeon; he replaced my lost skull with artificial
bone two weeks ago – surgery number ten - and I am doing great. I am told that
once you have melanoma in your innards, it can reactivate at anytime. I think
of my Emory docs as warriors who despise cancer, and I will blog about them at
another time. I will sing their praises until the day I take my last breath.
