Travel / Non Revving - HL 128 (3)

Date: 5/14/2012 1:46:21 PM

Subject: Non-Rev Business/First

Mark,

A question for all of our retired travelers, especially international non-revenue.

1. Does any airline officially offer Business or First Class listing to a non revenue retiree?

2. Has any airline offered either class as a complimentary upgrade after boarding in economy?

Thanks,

Andy Anderson

Hi Mark,

Re: "FlyZed" Queries on your last blog:

We live part-time in central Europe and frequently use eZed tickets purchased on-line. It's very convenient for getting to and from Delta gateways and avoids having to deal with some poor Delta agent who is not familiar with writing reduced rate tickets --Zed, ID-90s, etc-- on other airlines.

You CAN ONLY ACCESS THE SYSTEM VIA DELTA'S TRAVELNET ! You may use either the Internet Explorer or Firefox browser. Both those browsers work for me, but I don't know about others like Apple's Safari. Maybe another reader knows. Anyway, after logging into Travelnet:

Click on "Leisure Travel - Leisure Travel on Other Airlines"

Click on "Other Airlines Agreement Chart" to see which airlines require use of eZed fares. In Europe these include Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Austrian, Finnair, and many others.

The click onto the "myIDTravel" link. You will see that you are logged on as YOUR NAME (DL). From there you just click "Agree" and follow the "Next" boxes. Useful hint: Open up a separate browser window to website of the airline you are interested in to get an idea of their route system and schedules.

Once you click on the airline you want to travel on, it's pretty simple. Check flights and availability by dates. Most use smile-ly face symbols for flights that are wide open and frowning ones that aren't. We've had good luck with both. Have your email address and credit card ready! Once you get a passenger record number, print it out as well as the email you will get immediately afterwards. Then it's...

Happy, hassle-less interline flying!

Editor: Thanks Charlie a million for reminding all that there is a ZED connection now inside TravelNet.  That wasn’t always there but it is there now.  The FlyZED.com web site is still available to log into and view flight info and the like.  Still may be helpful for those who wish to peruse through a bunch of schedules when off of the DALNet.

Comments - Came across this site some time back. Have never used it, but some deals look interesting. There is link on the left side to connect to "interline rates". Good hunting! Joel Payne B767A [ret.]
