Father’s Day Final Flight – Capt Tom Lake & Son Eric

"I had the honor of flying with my dad on his final flight after being an airline pilot for 34 years! I was fortunate enough to spend six of those years working and flying with him at the same company, and in that time, we’ve flown over 500 hours together on two different airplanes. It’s just very special to say that he flew with me on my first flight ever at Delta and I flew with him on his last.

It would take pages and pages to thank every single person that showed support and was there to be a part of this special moment for my dad. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful people surrounding us, from our family and friends to the people we get to work with on a daily basis.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a Delta kid since I was 4 years old, and it's an even greater honor to pay that back in working for them for another 27+ years. Truly an airline family of great people. I have some gigantic shoes to fill, as my dad made such an impact and helped train hundreds of pilots that are out there flying now. If I can do even half of what he did, then I know I’m doing something right. Love you, Dad!" - @erik_cleared_for_takeoff, Delta First Officer

Congratulations on your retirement, Tom! Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads in the sky and on the ground.
