We are very excited to announce that our Boeing
747-400, Ship
6301, opens to the public on Tuesday, March 28th! The plane will open
to Delta employees, retirees, their families, and the public from 1-4 p.m.,
following a press event in the morning. On Wednesday, March 29th, we continue
the celebration of the 747 Experience by opening the plane and museum hangars
from 12 noon-4 p.m. on a day we’re normally closed.
Admission on these two days will be $7.47 for everyone, with
the exception of Delta employees, retirees, their PPRs, and military who are
always free with ID.
Starting Thursday March 30, the 747 is open 12 noon-4 p.m.
every day the Museum is open (Thursdays-Tuesdays, closed Wednesdays).
With the addition of the 747 Experience, we are increasing
our admission prices to the following:
Adults (ages 18-64) = $15
Seniors (ages 65+) = $12.50
Youths (ages 5-17) = $10
Children (ages 0-4) = Free
Groups (10+ people) = $10
Because of the size of the plane, we will not offer private
747 tours during normal hours. However, we have two tour time slots available:
10-10:45 a.m. and 11-11:45 a.m. Private tours are available for $150 plus
admission, and the plane can hold up to 100 people. To book your private tour
or group visit, please call us at (404) 715-7886.
In addition to private tour slots in the morning and public
access in the afternoon, the 747 is available for evening event rentals. If
interested in renting this premium space, please contact Director of Sales
LaVerne Brown at laverne.brown@delta.com.
We’re very excited about this new addition to the Museum
fleet, and hope you get a chance to visit soon!

This is a classy tribute to the venerable Boeing 747.
The photography is excellent; you have to admit the French have the delicate
artist touch.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS?

Some will remember it, others definitely should
watch...
I'm sure you've seen the world's most famous photograph,
"Earthrise" which was photographed on Christmas Eve, 1968.
It's been on the cover of TIME and on stamps, however, did you
know it almost didn't happen?
The site below is outstanding. It takes you right onto the module with the 3 astronauts and you hear them as they see the earth appear from behind the moon for the first time.
(It begins occurring around 3 minutes, 38 seconds.)
A picture like this, taken by a human, is not likely to
happen again even in the distant future.
