Helpful miscellaneous articles regarding our retirement plan and planning.  Like you, I review my retirement nestegg and plan from time to time.  Recently, I went though some continued education for some credentials I maintain and it occurred to me that we all could use a review about these issues.  So with your help, we will share and post articles and info that may be helpful and of interest to many of you in this section.

Delta Employee AMEX Gold “Skymiles” Card:  

Verify you have no annual fee!

 Here is my personal story.  Yeah, I did it, I signed up for a Delta AMEX card with the promise that for employees that there was no annual fee and you earned miles with very purchase.  So things were going along swimmingly until I got my $99 annual renewal fee.  What gives?  I called and the original signup apparently did not issue the card under the right criteria so the AMEX people were nice enough to issue me another card and wipe the annual renewal fee away.  If you have this card, PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHARGED THIS FEE BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE FREE WITH NO ANNUAL FEE!  

2^nd tip concerning skymiles.  With the card the skymiles add up quickly.  If you don’t use miles but wish to turn them into money then www.flipmymiles.com  is the place to go.  As a rule of thumb, miles are more valuable,  then hotel points.  And Delta miles have a nice value via these converting sites.  Flipmymiles will send you money almost instantly.  It’s another way to gain a benefit from reward miles.
